Interesting about the insurance app. Borderline Big Brother, but I can see how one might be tempted if a sizable discount is the result.
I've been influenced by the Maverick's brake coach so much that I use the same gentle braking on the wife's car and have come to notice that many people brake hard unnecessarily.

I was curious to see where this conversation would end up after I started it .
Insurance and rust .......😅......but at least it wasn't the typical screaming match !

I'm gonna have to find a steep hill and drive down it backwards then brake hard. That's the only way these rear rotors will get the rust off.

I just had my 2016 Hyundai Sonota Hybrid in for state inspection. Brakes at 80% with over 92K miles. So, looking at first brake replace around 400K?

So I think it we be a while before my Mav needs brakes. Only at 7,000 miles.

Used to own a garage whereby 80% of my business was brake repair with the remainder divided between oil changes and coolant system repairs. Says a lot on how folks drive and maintain their cars.

The one problem I've had with my prius (maverick not built yet) is if I use regenerative braking too much in winter, road salt can rot the brake rotors in a few years. I've had to make sure to brake harder to keep the rotor surface clear of rust so rot doesn't take hold.
The Mav switches to brakepads to stop below about 4mph, so the rotors get wiped clean at every stop. 20k on it now in the snowbelt with lots of snow and ludicrous amounts of salt, and they still look like new.

I have a 2024 Maverick Lariat Hybrid, the brakes squeak bad and I have only 24000 miles on the truck. The dealership said I need new breaks??

Hybrid brake pads should last at least between 100k & 200k miles. Possibly longer.

I have 86,000 miles on a Ford C-Max hybrid and have never replaced the brakes.
Same here. I traded in my Cmax with 94k miles and had never replaced the brakes, and the same for my F150 with 130k miles. I think it has a lot to do with how hard people apply the brakes and the location of the vehicle (I'm in CA and don't have to worry about salt on the roads or extreme weather).

I've never had to replace a set of brakes on a vehicle I bought new and drove myself before 150k miles.

Do your brakes squeak all the time or only when you are stopping harder than the regenerative braking will do? The factory brakepads are hygroscopic, so they will tend to squeak and shudder in a stop when the are damp. If they squeak all the time, you may have a slide that needs cleaning up and relubricating.

They squeak pretty much all the time, I just took it for an oil change and was told I will need new brakes that I am at 4mm in the back and 6 in the front. 2 months ago it showed I was at a 9 mm on both.
I feel like the one dealer is trying to hose me.
