I think that the remote start is great, especially in the winter. If you are talking about automatic engine pause when sitting at a light, I don't know whether it saves fuel or whether it taxes the battery, but it doesn't bother me. I will say this: I haven't had to replace the stock battery that came with my 2022 Lariat.

I've always wondered does it save that much gas in regular driving conditions like just normal stop light in a smaller town? I'm sure it helps in heavy city traffic obviously. I also wonder if all the constant restarting bad for the battery, starter, spark plugs etc? I feel like when I get my truck I'll probably turn it off most days. Do you guys use the auto start stop or do you turn yours off?
I have a grandson who's an electrical engineer. He works for Mahle Corporation (one of the world's largest piston makers), but actually works at a Ford test facility.

The first year or so, I drove the truck in standard mode regularly, but then, having once been a mechanic (many years ago), I started hitting the button right after I started the truck.

He and I had a discussion on this a few weeks ago, and he sees no problem leaving the truck in default mode, as the starters are much more beefed up specifically for this reason, and the coatings in the cylinder have been improved, to prevent bypass and other issues as a result of frequent stop/start.

Besides being an electrical engineer, he's very savvy on all aspects of engines, so now I leave it in default mode.

Hate it! Don’t have forscan so I have to manually turn it off every time I start the truck!

other than sitting in gridlocked traffic I can't imagine it's amounting to much savings in fuel.

on my hybrid obviously no issue since the engine and starting and stopping during regular driving and I have the electric motor available to get me moving before the engine fires up.

I haven't driven the mav ecoboost but I have noticed on other ICE vehicles this feature can be annoying when you take off. perhaps it just takes some getting used to?
I have not driven Ecoboost much but I got used to it fairly quickly. Does not take hardly any time to start ice so you can anticipate traffic moving very easily. The perception of the delay is exaggerated as no matter how short the delay is it is many many times longer than 0 delay. Pay attention to how quickly truck moves not that engine is not running. I think what bothered me was the auto start after (45 seconds?) the stop period. Of course if you notice if the stop is shorter or does not happen then it's time to put battery on maintainer that night🤗.

i think everyone hates it, but the government pretty much mandates it due to emissions rules.

I hate it. When the engine shuts off it lurches like you stalled it with a manual transmission. Then it’s slow to restart. I catch it “napping” 80% of the time. The teaspoon of gas “saved” doesn’t seem worth the extra wear and tear on all the components involved with starting and stopping the engine. I shut it off every time. It should only work on “eco mode” or turn it on if you want it. Not a default. Another (slightly off topic) is the transmission settings. “Normal” (to me anyway) is like a bad eco mode. Sport is a little too sporty. In normal, only occasionally, it refuses to downshift on a hill or when you need just a little go. I’ve absolutely hammered the gas pedal trying to get it to downshift at times and got nothing for several seconds (I actually counted to 4 once). And then of course it finally dropped too many gears and took off. All I wanted was to a gear or two. Sport mode (as it should) won’t up shift when you lift off the throttle. It just holds the engine at 4 grand (going downhill). Fine if I’m driving aggressively but I usually just want a little engine braking. I don’t like to ride the brakes every time I’m on a slight decline and the transmission is allowing the vehicle to coast (in normal mode).
I’m starting to miss my good old fashioned 5 speed automatic in my old Titan. It was a “learning transmission”. If you drove aggressively for a bit it would hold gears longer. If you drove gently it would up shift early and let it coast more (down hill).
I would have paid more for a manual transmission in this truck.

UPS pioneered this idea more than 30 years ago. It has saved them millions in fuel costs with virtually zero added maintenance/repair costs.

I love auto start/stop. It should be on every ICE vehicle and not be able to be disabled.

I'm all for commercial fleets like UPS doing this if they so choose.

I live in a rural part of the state, and rarely if ever drive in congested areas anymore. I don't like the idea of my truck turning off without me physically turning the key to the off position. Call me old school, I can live with it.

I just wish it wasn’t programmed to come on at every start up! In some situations I like to use it but during the summer in Florida it just starts up right away to keep the AC blowing cold!

The EPA won't grant manufacturers credits for it if it's not activated by default. Those incentives are now in the process of being rolled back.

This. The 15 seconds that it stays off can't possibly provide any substantial benefit.

So what is a teaspoon x 1 million vehicles?

Answer: 1 million teaspoons.

Or, 1300 gallons PER STOP per 1 million vehicles.

Lets take that a step farther:

50 million vehicles x 20 stops per day x 1300 gallons = 1.3 Million Gallons Saved PER DAY.

Now, say everyone drives 250 days a year.

250 x 1.3 Million = 325,000,000 GALLONS saved per year.

1 teaspoon at a time.

Can you hear me now???

No I won't hear you at all. I will gladly pay for the teaspoons I use just to have it to be gone/disabled. It's automatically in my startup process memory bank to deactivate it at each start up. Push Start Button, Push Deactivate Start/Stop Button, Turn Gear Dial to appropriate gear. F it. Just my opinion and 2 cents on the matter.
