There is no way to lock it in eco mode, other than using an add-on device like https://www.mymavmode.com/
or maybe FORScan.🤷🏻‍♂️
Your Maverick will always default to regular mode which is what it was EPA certified with.

Sport Mode also needs to be turned on every ride. But just like fastening my seatbelt - it is an ingrained habit. Don’t even have to think about disabling Stop/Start because Sport Mode does it automagically.

I get phenomenal smileage btw:)

One of the best STUPID features of the truck.
Being a Ford Engineer has no prerequisites.
Ford Engineers realize that leaving your Maverick in any Mode other than Normal has consequences on power train wear & tear.

Normal Mode is optimized to last for the warranty period.

That's a stupid statement

Please post up your Certs.

Those in the field have been awarded their degrees and Certs..

Please show your ME Degree(s) and Certs...

Those who have invested their lives and $$ would like to know...

Just asking...

The OEMs make the final calls on builds..

Therefore, if I drive daily in eco mode I am wearing out my truck prematurely and it won’t last through the warranty.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and to the Wonderful World of Mavericks.
I just bought a "new" 2025 XLT Hybrid AWD.
Noob question on Eco mode: Does it actually make the engine work more efficiently, or is it just a way to encourage you to drive without a "lead foot."
Thanks

Why does the sport mode act like it is changing gears?

It dumbs down the gas peddle so everything is smoothed out. I think it does a few other things too which I am not privy to.
Most drivers claim it does increase mpg.
It does give you more regen braking which you can see on the gauge on the left and feel when coasting.

Good times. Apparently driving in eco mode will damage your vehicle though. lol.
