When I factored in the features I did need and then how much I would have to pay upwards to get other features I would have liked but could live without I just didn't see the value for money spent to get them. I get the well so and so costs 10k or more for a base model so I consider the Lariat a bargain. That is one way to look at it but I look at it as an apples to apples aka Maverick to Maverick trim comparison not apples and oranges aka Maverick to Ranger when it came to options.

The only feature on the XL I was supposed to get according to the dealer as part of build they already had in the system was the CoPilot360 package. When they finally got the sticker it wasn't on the final build.

So far I have about $600 extra into my truck for the mods, horse stall mat bed liner I made and a truxedo truxport tonneau cover. Next up is a DIY bed rack made from 2 x 4 s taking advantage of the flexbed slots.

XL for me. Didn't see the value in the price increase for XLT. I always run two sets of tires, so I would have to buy an extra set of wheels anyway. I have a set of XLT wheels waiting for when my truck comes. I'll use the steelies for winter tires. I don't use cruise control, so I won't miss that. I did order the copilot 360 to get the power mirrors and full size spare.

https://techcrunch.com/2022/01/09/feature-bloat-cars-chip-shortage/

talks about excessive doodads, chip shortage, reliability, etc. I’m not a luddite, retired from an IT career, but I still think simpler is better when it comes to autos. Everything in my 20-year old Ranger still works, because there’s not much tech stuff in it that can fail.
Well, my XL now has 4 ford options: Almost full-size spare, 400W inverter, 4-pin hitch and 2 new steering wheel switches that provide factory cruise control with 3 forscan lines of code.

Planning to add lane assist, traffic sign recognition and a ford roll-up cover. Contemplating a maverick bed liner. Would not mind retiring from my IT career.

Hello All , I ordered a XL with eco boost, AWD , co pilot 360 , 4K tow package and key less entry
26,295 on Jan 15.

Also ordered a XLT Hybrid with luxury package and co-pilot 360. For just a couple 100,00 more on on Aug 11 2021 and no build date or no allocation .

That's why I ordered the XL don't know if I will get the hybrid or even the Ego Boost ? If I get one I will keep it !! If both come in I will be reading alot of reviews about the XL and the XLT . šŸ¤”šŸ˜†šŸ¤”

I usually lease and I usally get quite a few options, but this is a run around town truck.

Plus- I didn't like the interior colors on the XLT, and the Lariat was even worse. I cannot stomach orange leather interiors. If you could get black or grey pleather on either one I would have gone that way.

The only reason I ordered but may never get an xlt over the xl is because I wanted the fx4 wheels. If they offered fx4 and 4K towing in the xl, that’s what I would have ordered.
I think the xl is the coolest of the trim levels.

With all the XL modding fun going on, I am kind of wishing I went with the XL. I sure am enjoying all the XL mod reads. If the '23 MY prices hold without huge increases, I may get another one for my son that we can play with modifying together.
Agree. The XL becoming the modular smartphone.

don’t like your analog dash? Swap it.
don’t like the cloth seats? Katzskin

I hope the community can bolt up the radar module and get the assisted cruise control control going.

Yeah those orange accents on the XLT interior put me off pretty hard.

Two reasons I went XL. 1) price, I'm cheap. Wife says I so tight I squeak when I walk. 2) I like the XL interior colors better. I however do not like the steelies. Gonna have to cough up some money to get some new wheels and tires whenever it shows up.

I went XL for the price, and I didn't like the XLT interior. Still ended up getting the 2.0 to get the 4k tow, which morphed into the AWD. I out on some wheels, and I just got a folding cover, and have a few little things to put on.

I felt like there was plenty of tech for me with the XL and the price point is great. I drove an XLT and I see the appeal there as well. For me, I typically set it and forget with my vehicle, so less is more. If I could opt out of the touch screen, I would. I didn’t dig the orange accents either.
My wife has a CRV and you can’t change the heat/air settings without clicking 4 buttons…worthless. I like that even with the higher trims on the Mav, the controls seem to be pretty streamlined from what I can see. But it’s still more than I would use.
If I could get a Mav with a combo cd player/tape deck I would. I enjoy driving to kind of block everything out…don’t want life to creep into my ride via my cell phone any more than it already does. Doesn’t keep me from enjoying the pictures of peoples Lariats and Lux packages though! To each his own.

It was the price and fuel economy..,.

Since I habe a 98 mile commute to work and My VW died of a blown engine and then the Mrs. totaled her car a couple weeks later.

Having to purchase two vehicles in this market we had to go most economical.

Then when I found a dealer with a stock order and a sooner than later ETA it was a start to my hurry up and wait.

Now my 12/20 ETA has been pushed back so many times I lost count. See my signature for all the updates.
