Year old, and I'd almost be willing to bet somebody actually paid that $20k markup....it was in California after all, the land of the $6/gallon gas.

I’m embarrassed I know where Manteca is...😳
This is insane. $55K for a used Mav (albeit lightly used). With our tax that will put it well over $60K! It doesn’t even include a moonroof or tonneau. You could order a new 2024, add on a Tremor package, add on a tonneau, add on a moonroof and still come in well under that.
I know I’m talking Canadian dollars here but that’s still crazy. Are people just losing their minds?

1 CAD equals 0.73 USD

So $54,888 CAD is $40,068.24 US dollars

That is a little high but not unreasonable for a 2023 Maverick Lariat with LUX and 4K Tow packages

Carvana paid me $31,404 for my 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid with 9,269 miles on it and resold it for $32,990

considering that you can get all of that plus much more and have it on a newer year for less and get it new rather than ā€œusedā€, then yes, its high.

And WAIT WAIT WAIT

There is a market for those who can't WAIT

and the costs are higher than ordering and waiting

In the Toronto area there are plenty of options for used Mavs with the same package for thousands less than this one

This thread is OLD!!!

And asking does not = getting.

Need proof? Go as your boss for a $20,000 raise today and see what happens.

I took one home off the lot in 2022.
Sticker like that had $12,000 ADM on a fully loaded XLT Hybrid.

Dealer later told me he didn't want to give test rides and spend a lot of time with people not serious in buying. They were rare, and there was a lot of interest. They'd put hundreds of miles of test drives on it; then couldn't sell it as new.

We negotiated to $3k over sticker.
Fair for a rare vehicle I spent 6 hours waiting to get.

Why are you changing the narrative?

You stated NEW and now you are changing to USED Mavericks.

Also I'm saving $1200 per year on gas

By going Hybrid vs Ecoboost or other non-hybrid at 25 MPG.

15000 miles @ $4.50 / gallon

Paying to take one off the lot vs.waiting a year was a $1200 discount off sticker price, 2022 sticker price, which was lower than 2023 sticker price.

So, I broke even. Walked on a lot, paid basically "sticker". Made the dealer feel happy. Made me feel happy.
Win - Win

Ha ā€œchanging the narrativeā€, what are are we in court here Counsellor? Ok then, may I direct the jurors to review my prior statements?

First I pointed out that this posting for a used 2023 has an asking price substantially higher than a new 2024 with more options. It was a simple point and a factual one.
You responded that explaining the reason someone would buy a used 2023 for a higher price than a new 2024 is that they simply cannot wait. Well to be exact it was ā€œWAIT WAIT WAIT. There is a market for those who can’t WAITā€.
That may be a good reason to pay a bit more if you have to, but you don’t have to pay that much more. So I responded to that pointing out those who cannot wait and don’t mind lightly used have many other options for less $ in our area. At no point did I change the narrative. I was simply responding to your own comment.

Whether someone wants to wait for new or buy used, the price in the ad I shared is crazy.

With the court’s permission I’d like to call for a recess.

Some good points there. This makes sense if they don’t want people wasting their time kicking tires and burning mileage unnecessarily when they’re going to sell it anyways. From the sounds of it there’s a waiting list so why even bother posting it in the first place? Maybe to drive up the perceived price for future buyers?
