I went in to talk financing about my 2023 Hybrid Maverick XLT that is currently being built. Long story short, the dealer, Cypress Coast Ford, wants $5k over markup. They cite the original order form on which I signed a line acknowledging there may be dealer markups/add-ons. When I pushed them on this originally, they said they add about $1k worth of stuff like low jack and ceramic coating, etc. I reluctantly agreed as order banks were not likely to stay open very long.

I have filed complaints with Ford Corporate and got Mark Levine to receive my order information...hoping he gets back to me soon. I know I should not have signed that line, but nonetheless, I feel like this is still unethical and against Ford Corporate wishes. On top of that, they were super rude, and at one point, the guy I spoke with left to buy cigarettes and lottery tickets. I was so excited when I got my production date, but it has all gone sour now.

EDIT: The pricing is for a used car on the lot. They didn't use my VIN for some reason...Just another shady thing from this interaction. Nothing was signed, and no money has been changed yet. The truck should be here in 3 weeks or so.

It’s time to start filing complaints with the attorney generals office for consumer affairs. Maybe they start cracking these people.

We've been through this a dozen times. Talking to a lawyer will just lighten your wallet. The dealer sells you the car, Ford has almost nothing to do with it. All Ford can do is drop their future allocations. I guarantee you do not have a contract for a sales price for a car, and even if you did, I guarantee that the contract can be cancelled by either party without penalty. These people might be crooks, but they're crooks with lawyers.

Long story short- if threats of negative social media posts don't sway them, you are screwed.

Thanks for the reply. But, Ford has intervened on behalf of the customer before, by threatening to reduce allocations in direct conversation with the offending dealer. I got a response from Mike Levine, indicating he has passed it along. The dealer called me and wants to meet next week...we'll see if the two are related when I meet with them.

Kind of depends on the lawyer. And California has some ball-busting consumer protections, including, in some cases, attorney's fees provisions. The Monterey County DA's Office is also tough as nails. A call to their consumer division might be fun. Finally, contracts cannot ordinarily be unilaterally cancelled.
Short answer: I wouldn't throw in the towel until OP has a better idea what the odds are.

I hope Ford Corp will step in to help. I wouldn't take one used with those miles on it. I'd wait for my von numbered truck. That's just me, and this will be my first ordered truck. If I got screwed like they are trying to do to you, I'd leave and never order anything else.
