Alright. You said it not me.
Show me a 35k ‘better equipped pick-up with better materials’ Bill.
How about just show me another 35k pick up of any style.

I already compiled a list on this thread of $50k pickups, cuz that's what the author of the thread posted as the Maverick purchase price. do I need to do one for every $5k increment?

But, at $35k the Hyundai, although not as "pickup" as the Mav, has much better materials and is better equipped than the Mav at same price point. I looked at one. People act like I'm criticising Ford, which may be their cult favorite deity, but I'm actually defending the base model Mav as "the best deal going". Once you start stacking on trims and options to the base model, with the additional $5k, $10k, $15k, even $20-25k, the comparative value to other makes and models diminishes. Not to mention the ability/inability to add effective aftermarket features such as a working lift, taller tires, custom suspension, etc. that you can do on frame/body construction vs a unibody. Tacoma and Ranger would be the entry into that world. (key word is "effective", which is different than "looks")

Also, I saw someone post about XLT Mav now being $35k+ without many options, so I guess tariffs have taken hold, which is a little early since I think anything already in the country on the lot would be exempt. That creates a whole new playing field of consumer prices. What used to be "expensive" may now be "affordable" by comparison. But the quality of materials in the Mav stays the same, despite the price jump.

It's not possible IMO. If I wanted everything I got on a 40k maverick a similar ranger come out at 50+ might as well get a raptor ranger then, a F-150 with those options is 65k. There is nothing that compares to the options and price, even the 40k range.

Not surprisingly, the dealership has not responded to my request for the list of additional equipment.

I have seen some deeper dealer discounts on rangers though, getting on for 7k and with 0% financing and/or wayyy better lease deals than Mavericks. So if you wanna pay the same price for that tad extra capacity that's useful 0.5% of the time, the -40% gas mileage that would have been useful 100% of the time and have a more cramped cab, then I guess those Rangers are for you. Possibly the Ranger is better offroad, but now we're talking the 70k+ one or the more base trims with 10k addons so it's not the same comparo as what meets the top of the Mav trims when discounted enough.

I really did my homework when I ordered my first Mav in 21 a 22 FX4 LUX AWD 4KTOW CO 360 full size spare and sliding rear window, few other things, I paid 34k out the door, dealers didn't know what they had at the time and were happy to sell it at sticker price, salespeople knew nothing about the truck, every question I asked they had to look up, I knew the answers to most of them, then the sh-- hit the fan and started adding 3/5/ even 10k.
I waited 8 months for that truck and was one of the lucky ones, some waited a lot more, it was a great truck except for a bunch of recalls, crappy radio, info screen that froze up once in a while that software fixed after a year or so[ I miss the cubby] only kidding.
I drove that vehicle for 3 years and enjoyed it every day, there was nothing I could get for that price unless I got a plain jane work truck.
Today I drive a 25 lariat HYBIRD AWD 4KTOW SUNROOF BLACK PKG, I paid 39k sticker was 42k, yes that's a lot but again I could of got a mid-size plain jane truck for that, I wouldn't of got a 13" screen, all 4 power widows up and down, fake leather seats, power rear slider, sunroof, 19'' wheels, upgraded radio, up graded windshield, hybrid, tow pkg, keyless entry and locking, push button start, remote start, cordless phone and charger, heated seats heated mirrors and steering wheel, power driver seat, etc.
I paid my dues I worked over 55 years and 5 years part time while in school, I wanted some luxury, Kids don't start working 12/13/14 anymore, Its a different world. My point of this rant is to get what the Maverick has you have to spend 50/60/70k, a old retired guy/girl can get a vehicle with some nice features for under 40k when the average new car price is around 47k now. I have had plenty base trucks, Ranger, F150s, Ram, Dakota, Blazer, Bronco 11, they did the job and is all I needed at the time. 90% of the people with those BIG fancy gas guzzling pickups don't need them and can't park them. The Maverick is the perfect size for most, your going to see a lot more like it.

ok, I give up, I'll join the herd.

A Maverick with a high trim level and loaded with options to make it cost $50k is better than anything ever made in every way by anyone at the same price.

I doubt many are paying markup on mavericks anymore, there's literally half a dozen or more on any dealership I drive by. Nice try though, waiting on the next excuse on not to buy a 40k maverick. Honestly every buyer is looking for something that suits their needs, if you like the XL get the XL. I don't complain about how basic looking the base XL and diss the guys that don't have what I have. Most of us are here to enjoy talking with others that have the same passion as I do about my maverick. Enjoy life and don't let the little things bother you. Quit being so SURLY.😡🤬

Never paid dealer markup in my life. If someone does that then it is NOT the price of the vehicle it is the price of stupidity.
what, you didn't buy an $80k Bronco for $120k the first month they came out? 🤣

I'm wondering if it is just a typo. $305.82 worth of accessories versus $30582.

These high priced listings are intentional.
They are customer ordered (sold) vehicles. The dealer uses their inventory tracking procedure to induct the vehicle into their system. Since the vehicle is sold, the dealer will apply an unreasonable price to the listing so that the majority of shoppers won't bother the dealer with inquiries about it. It's just an inventory control mechanism.
That makes sense, but it is also lazy. They could easily tag it in the database as sold and not have it show up on the website.

It's shocking what an entry level model pickup can be priced at when slapping on just a few extra gadgets and trim. In my mind; if you're paying more than $30k for any trim level of Maverick, you've been had. Once you get above that, there are MANY better equipped, more capable, better materials, better ride pickups to choose from at the same price point.
Not sure l get your comment. I wanted a Maverick and l wanted it with all the boxes checked. In 23 without a dealer markup ( had to gonout of state to get that), it was 35 ish loaded. Today, that's likely 42 with less stuff. However, my point is, thats the vehicle l wanted and that's how l wanted it. It wasn't about " is there a better value" , am l getting not enough for my money. I have other cars. No ones opinion about value matters. Everybody has different ideas about that. But thanks for your opinion I n the matter.
