Heated Wipers?

I found this Ford video describing the "wiper de-icer". Still not sure if there is a heating element in the windshield, or if the defroster vents are doing the de-icing.

I just went out and checked mine and the windshield does get nice and warm where the wipers sit. I noticed on the passenger side I could see a black squiggly line. This could be the wires! I can see how this will de-ice the blades because it warmed my cold hands.

I’m not sure they know what they are shipping out! I found my order listed for sale on my dealers website and one of the details was “ full sized spare tire”. Which I have heard is not included in xlt lux.

Probably the confusion comes from the original nomenclature..."heated wiper park." The wipers are not heated but the area where they sit when off is.

You are correct. That black material that is in the windshield located where the wiper rest is a heating element just like you find on many suv and truck rear windows.

There is an electric heating element along the bottom of the windshield were the wipers rest. When you turn on your heated mirrors it activates the wiper de-icer.

I know it's all about the $$$ but I really wish they had a winter package with just the heated mirrors and wipers. Wrapped/heated wheel would be nice too. Would have payed 1k for that. Between the constraints and 2.3k I couldnt justify the xlt lux

Amen to this! Why dont they just come with heated seats… doesn’t everybody want heated seats??? Anyways. I’m pricing out a katzkin kit. You can get it installed with heated fronts for half the price of your financed lux package. … why do they call it lux package anyways when you dont get leather? Haha

I thought heated seats were awesome until I bought my GMC Acadia Denali that came with heated and cooled seats. Cooled seats are the absolute shit! So much better especially on long road trips. No more sweaty balls when we drive out to Cleveland to visit my wifes family. haha

Haha well i live in canada. So the need for the cool seats doesn’t come up as much. But i’m happy for you! Theres no cooling option on mav right? I dont need it so i never looked into it

It will come on if you left those switches on when the car was shut off.

Through the app, no. Although that would be nice.

If the market doesn't stay crazy and I can't trade up to a lariat my plan is go the katzkin route. What have you been quoted exactly? I'm hoping if I wait a few years the price will be better than now

I’m in canada so itll be a touch different. I’ll give you the lux package prices too for comparison since they’ll also be different.

XLT lux in canada is 3100… so 3800ish after tax and 6 years of financing.

hmm that's pretty good tbh. I wouldn't want the heated seats so could probably come in under 1500 USD. I'm assuming it depends alot on what shop you get directed to tho

about 10 years ago heated washer fluid was a thing for a short period. GM even had it as an option and there were aftermarket kits to heat up your washer fluid.

guess what. Hot fluid on icy windshield caused bad things to happen to glass.
