Hi again - I am starting to see my wipers chatter quite a bit on my new Mav xlt hybrid. They skip/chatter at the beginning and end of the arc of travel. I only have 2455 miles on the truck so I don't think the factory wipers need to be replaced yet. Is this something I need to address?

Same thing with my '23 hybrid. I park indoors 100% of the time and at the time had under a couple thousand miles, and most of that highway. Probably spent maybe a week total sitting outdoors. So definitely not UV related.

I ended up just putting RainX on the windshield and not using wipers unless absolutely needed.

I think they are chattering on yours because the windshield is dry.

Factory wiper blades absolute trash?

The video was taken during a rain event. The windshield is plenty wet. I'm reading through the responses in your link.

Replace them with 100% silicone blades and you'll have quiet wipers for years. I haven't had any issues (yet) with the stock blades on my Mav, but as soon as they start wearing out I'll be getting silicone replacements. I had PIAA brand ones on my Nissan Frontier and they lasted about 7 years before I sold the truck, 100% quiet the entire time.

Great advice, especially with the rainy season about to begin

Depends on where you live. In the Northeast, the road salt brine and frost on windshields will eat away at blades just by putting tiny tears in the material as it travels over them. It's a good idea to run cheaper wipers for the winter because they'll just get torn up in bad weather.

The rubber part of the wiperwhich meets the windshield must flip back and forth with each swipe. Check if the blade which contacts the windshield is stiff and not flipping. From the sound, yours does not appear to be flipping back and forth with stroke. If the rubber is stiff, replace.

coat the wiper blades with RainX as well as the windshield and that should solve the problem. Did on my 2020 Escape anyway.

My 26 Mav is only a few weeks old. Drove in the rain for the first time this weekend and mine chatter like that. I hadn't noticed it from washing the windows but when they run intermittently in the rain it seems to do it.

had the same problem, a little armoral protectant on the blades might cure..

Some car wash spray waxes will cause the blades to react that way. I did replace my factory supplied wipers almost immediately but my Maverick had sat on the lot for 8 months as well.

I find it's more about the coating on the glass (from a car wash, etc) than the blade.

I had really new; just weeks old not cheap blades chatter. Then they didn't weeks later. Then they started again.

I'll add particular washer fluid brand could be the culprit also.
