Cool. Doesn't really matter to me cuz I am so programmed that I find myself putting on my seatbelt, starting the car, and clicking the auto stop start off that sometimes when I'm driving I look down cuz I can't remember if I actually turned it off. But I did cuz it's so second nature now.

I hope the source was accurate: the Trump EPA has ended the auto stop/start regulations.
Are you going to link to the "source" or just assume we'll believe you?

As far as I know there were no "regulations". It was voluntary.

All this means is your EPA number for MPG on next year's Ecoboost Maverick will be about 2 MPG lower. The hybrid will be unaffected.

It will just widen the gap between hybrid and Ecoboost window stickers, making the hybrid look more attractive than ever, without really changing anything.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Why would Ford voluntarily reduce the MPG of the Maverick?
Remove the GPF? That would probably improve the mpg & reduce manufacturing costs too.

IF Ford decided to voluntarily drop the AS/S function since it would no longer help their CAFE numbers - then they would have to drop the MPG on the sticker.

I thought the GPF was only being added (eventually) for the States that required it - so not a Fed level thing.

I hope the source was accurate: the Trump EPA has ended the auto stop/start regulations.
He supposedly removed the means of that to improve CAFE figures, for manufactures that wanted to voluntarily use it as a quick & dirty method to reach their figures.

It will be interesting to see how automakers actually respond to loosened EPA / CAFE rules.

I consider myself to be an environmentalist that has an honest to god existential dread about how our civilization survives a rapidly changing climate, but I'm also a realist about what people will accept without revolting. There were some really dumb things being done to eek out very marginal fuel economy gains that unquestionably made vehicles less reliable. Loose piston rings, various cylinder deactivation technologies, wet timing belts, turbo everything, poorly implemented direct injection, start / stop, the list goes on. Emissions control is another layer on top of that.

Always wondered how much of that was over-regulation though, or automakers using it as a mild cover for planned obsolescence / less reliable cars so they could sell more cars, which is actually worse for the environment when you tabulate all the inputs into a new vehicle vs. keeping an older one on the road.

The only thing i like about the auto start stop is that my 2017 F-150 and the Maverick have the AGM battery. The original one on my F-150 IS STILL GOING STRONG. i have never had a bat. with such longevity. So far as the ending of this auto manufactures' credit incentive (and others).
Auto s.s. is on the hit list according to Lee Zeldin himself (EPA Administrator).

Seeing vehicles waiting in half hour lines at Starbucks and In n Out you can see the value of start/stop systems. Can you tell I bought a Hybrid Maverick. 😂

Years ago I rented a truck with auto start stop and could not get used to it in the few days I had it. Now when I see my MPG steadily drop when waiting at a light in my Sienna I wish I had it. Sure I can shift to neutral, turn off the van, and loose my music, but if I had auto ss I would use it when I was stuck in town.

Has anyone considered the cost of replacing the AGM battery more frequently? I know they last longer than a standard battery but all that restarting along with accessories running will prematurely run down that longer life span, and those batteries are more expensive.

There was never a requirement to have ASS. So it can't be 'lifted'. If MPG targets are being rolled back, which I haven't read, then it's up to the manufactures if they want to delete ASS.
