I was driving between McAllen and Brownsville back in 99 and saw sign that said "watch for ice on overpass." Not sure if it meant the frozen water variety or not :cwl:
Apparently if you see it marked on Waze or other crowdsourced POI maps these days it means the other variety.

I just installed Summit Trail Climber, SUV2 which are not an aggressive tread. They are 255/50R20 700 tread wear and AA UTQG rated. They are smooth and quiet and stick to the road really well. The increased traction reduced my fuel economy, but I like the look. The set was reasonably priced at Amazon. The 225/55R19 Goodyear Wrangler tires that came with my truck did really well and delivered better fuel economy.

lol.... most of the MME guys can't get rid of those wheels fast enough....unfortunately, they look just as bad on a Maverick. 😛

In 2002 I came down stairs ready to leave for a 160 mile drive to a customer and my 2 high school age kids were not dressed for school. We had moved to Virginia form Ohio the year before. I asked why they weren't ready for school and they said it's closed because of snow and so is the road outside the neighborhood because of people off the road. We had 2" of snow on the ground :cwl: . I said bye and drove to the job, no issues. BTW company vehicle was a Ford Windstar mini van.
My wife's 1999 Ford Windstar was always great in the snow. Only problem was road salt rotted the outer rockers!

Opinions are like A-holes, everybody's got one. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just ask your husband.

Bumping this thread as I will be in the market for new tires fairly soon (1-3 months). Doing my own research as well as browsing threads here on MTC.

One things I do know is that I won't be going back to the Parelli Scorpion ATR OEM tires for my FX4. They've done OK in terms of ride quality, but tread life has been disappointing. I'm at 4/32" at 37,500 miles.

I just recently purchased another set of Wildpeak AT3's to replace my current AT3's. They are discontinued, getting harder to find, Tire Rack still has a decent inventory of summer 2024 manufacture, the most current you will find. But I love these tires, best AT tires I've run. I'm at 60K and still have 6/32's tread. Fairly quiet for an AT, great all around grip in a variety of conditions.

I just put a set of Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires on mine. The original tires lasted 45,000 miles and still had tread left.

The CC2's are not a cheap date, but they look cool and are highly rated. First set of Michelins I have ever bought myself. Henry Ford bought the last set of Michelins for me when I had my Explorer and they recalled the OEM (Blowout Firestones) tires.
We took off the brand new factory Firestone crap tires one week after purchase on our 76 Tbird. They hydroplaned in the first rainstorm. That's when we started using only Michelins, and still do to this day.

Don't forget to check tread depth on the aftermarket version. Most ORM versions have less initial tread depth.
