So the last two times I tried to fill the gas tank the pump kept shutting off. Took quite a while to refill the tank. I tried moving the handle all around the inlet but nothing worked! I've gotten gas 5 times now since I bought it. I have never tried to add additional gas after the pump shuts off. So the vent is not clogged or even dirty. Anyone had similar issues trying to gas up? Although the last two stations weren't my usual stations but that can't be it. Anybody?

Sorry I didn't mean to start another thread about the same topic. The pressure did seem to be high (it was loud) from the nozzle. I'll try a different station next time.

Try a different station. I have had this happen to me twice in the two years I have had my maverick. Both times instead of futzing around with that pump I left and went to a station down the road which worked perfectly fine. Since the second pump worked normally on both occasions I am sure that it was a pump issue and not a truck issue.

You won't know which is the problem on yours unless you try a different pump or different station to verify.

Usually when that happens I take a look at the nozzle end. If its peened in from misuse then it will do that. The station needs to periodically ream them back out or replace them.

Don't run the nozzle on highest setting. Try that.

Actually this is exactly what happened when I would overfill another vehicle I had. I was told to stop filling once it's clicked off. I forgot them fix but then dealership did not charge. I think they did it under warranty which you should still have under 36k miles

If you drive down lots of dirt roads the evap canister can suck up dirt when it vents. There is a kit from Ford you can buy to attach a hose to the vent port and place it where it is less likely to do that. We used to go a step further for our customers, farmers and ranchers, by adding a filter to the end of the hose. That always solved the issue for them.

And then like some of you have discovered there are just some pumps that can have issues and not want to work correctly.

I've had this problem at a few gas stations. I'm not sure if its older style nozzles, or what, but it seems that the filler tube of the Maverick makes the "shut off because the tank is full" system too sensitive. As others have said, it's station dependent, so I don't go to the one or two near me that do this.

The same happened to me twice on the same gas station, I still go to that place but I pick a different pump, according to someone there it could be old filter causing the problem, been two years going to the same place and no more problems.

One of our vehicles is a modified wheelchair van, and part of the mod was moving the gas tank and apparently rerouting the filler tube, or possibly just putting a kink in it. At some stations I have to run the gas in at the lowest auto flow setting or it immediately kicks off.

I had that happen after rear shocks were remounted on a suspension upgrade on my class C. The shop accidentally crushed one of the evap lines going to canister. I found the problem when I got home from trip - took.it back tobthe shop and they fixed it. Problem solved.
All this to say the evap system and canister could be looked at. I've heard that folks who habitually "top off" at every fill up can flood or clog the canister/lined and they are only designed to handle vapors.
Hope it was just the staions you chose!!

Try holding that collar back towards the handle. Some don't seem to fit well to the Maverick gas fill collar.
