Thank you KathyG. safe travelsI had that happen after rear shocks were remounted on a suspension upgrade on my class C. The shop accidentally crushed one of the evap lines going to canister. I found the problem when I got home from trip - took.it back tobthe shop and they fixed it. Problem solved.
All this to say the evap system and canister could be looked at. I've heard that folks who habitually "top off" at every fill up can flood or clog the canister/lined and they are only designed to handle vapors.
Hope it was just the staions you chose!!
Thank you. No dirt roads where I drive. Only 2k on the truck since I bought it in May. Appreciate your input. If you drive down lots of dirt roads the evap canister can suck up dirt when it vents. There is a kit from Ford you can buy to attach a hose to the vent port and place it where it is less likely to do that. We used to go a step further for our customers, farmers and ranchers, by adding a filter to the end of the hose. That always solved the issue for them.
And then like some of you have discovered there are just some pumps that can have issues and not want to work correctly.
I'm hoping the same for me Cyber Orange Guy. ThanksThe same happened to me twice on the same gas station, I still go to that place but I pick a different pump, according to someone there it could be old filter causing the problem, been two years going to the same place and no more problems.
My previous truck was a used Chevy and I had to take the cannister off and blow it out, a lot of dirt road came out of it. An easy job and it worked fine after that. Thank you tcotti2003.Actually this is exactly what happened when I would overfill another vehicle I had. I was told to stop filling once it's clicked off. I forgot them fix but then dealership did not charge. I think they did it under warranty which you should still have under 36k miles
So, I went on a trip to Ga and back and filled my tank 5 times and at only one station did the pump not shut off early! 3 times i heard a suction sound when I inserted the nozzle, and the pump would always shut off and then spit some back out! I'm home now and just filled my tank again it kept shutting off.My previous truck was a used Chevy and I had to take the cannister off and blow it out, a lot of dirt road came out of it. You could always post a video of it happening. It isn't hard. So, I went on a trip to Ga and back and filled my tank 5 times and at only one station did the pump not shut off early! 3 times i heard a suction sound when I inserted the nozzle, and the pump would always shut off and then spit some back out! I called my Dealer to ask about the problem and was told "well it shows here that the tank is full."
Anyway, I was told before I get fuel again to make an appointment and bring it up so we can experience the issue. I tried all the suggestions on this forum thank you. Don't like the spitting it back out crap!
Update:So the last two times I tried to fill the gas tank the pump kept shutting off. Took quite a while to refill the tank. I tried moving the handle all around the inlet but nothing worked! I've gotten gas 5 times now since I bought it. I have never tried to add additional gas after the pump shuts off. So the vent is not clogged or even dirty. Anyone had similar issues trying to gas up? Although the last two stations weren't my usual stations but that can't be it. Anybody?
Try putting nozzle into truck at the closet to fender possible mine is sensitive to nozzle being too vertical. A problem on some pumps with the nozzle having to be inserted too far in to get vapor collection cup to activate pump.Tried moving nozzle all around, thanks for your responce
another update: after the dealer changing the Fuel vapor vent valve the problem still exists!Update:
I took the "little fellow" to the dealer, they replaced the Fuel vapor vent valve. I'm expecting the problem to be fixed. Thank you, Dorian Ford.
Did you ever figure out this problem?another update: after the dealer changing the Fuel vapor vent valve the problem still exists!
Talked to an old buddy today who has a 2023 Maverick and he hasn't had an issue with the pump
shutting off. I'm going to where he gets gas next time I need it.
Did you ever figure out this problem?

It still depends on which gas station I go to.
