What do I do with the wet cover? Toss it in my passenger foot well like a savage. Haha! Still better than needing to use an ice scraper. Nothing is perfect though.
a savage lol. but the wet ice covered item inside the truck was my concern. don't you just love it when the cabs interior humidity freezes to the inside of the glass. I get enough of that from wet floor mats.

Yeah, that happens sometimes. At the end of the day I still slightly prefer the windshield cover over scraping. Especially since I can remote start the Maverick to get the inside humidity lowered and anything on the inside of the windshield defrosted.

Anybody think of the solution I use? A garage! Keeps all the leaves and snow off my truck!

And the few times it's outside, like while I'm working, I just clean it off.

yes scraping is a pain, imagine it on my F150 and you'll understand why I installed a washer fluid heater and use de-icer fluid in the winter, usually Rainx.
glad the cover works for you, I don't have the patience to deal with it

The other thing is, when it snows when I'm at work, I start my truck while I'm finishing my post trip and unhooking my tractor and trailer, then it's nice and toasty inside and the snow or ice is melting off the windshield and easy to remove. Lucky me!

I disagree. Hundreds of varieties of these available. Which take care of both the large gap collecting leaves, as well as snow/ice/frost not only in the gap, but also on the actual windshield.

Full disclosure, edited this post to show a cover more like the one I have. Same brand. Not as crappy as the original one I linked to.

Thanks, I’ll look into the windshield cover. Otherwise, I’m thinking of fabricating something myself.

I've seen people use tarps held on with the doors closed on it. I wouldn't recommend that though except in an emergency.

Used a windshield cover all last winter, worked great, good fit, bought at Costco. We've had our Maverick two years next week. First winter scooping snow and ice out of that hood/windshield gap was a PITA.

All the post above are correct it will fill up with snow if you don't cover it some how but I just dig the snow out real quick and ho about my business this will be the 3rd winter for me with the Maverick (got it in October 21) it take a few extra seconds and technically you don't have to pull it out other than where the windshield wiper hit but it will build up and hold the blades up which will cause them to go off off randomly if you don't clear it out (found that out first winter.) So I just take my hand and scoop it out real quick add an extra minute or 2 to clearing out the windshield so if you don't wanna deal with it then you can buy one of the guards that someone posted above or cover it with plastic... etc.

This isn't a Maverick specific problem. This is just your first Ford truck.

It's an "issue" but us Maverick folks have a knack for complaining about everything.
What? I don't know what you're talking about, all the complaints on the forum are perfectly valid. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go put my fist through some drywall because my interior panels are slightly blue and not gray.

Mine has no magnets and has never flipped up in wind or anything. It is heavy enough material that it lays flat. It also has stiff "rods" on each end, so that allows for some ability for it to keep it's shape.

Maybe I just have a nice enough one that it has enough heft to keep it in place. Mine also doesn't use those anti-theft things you slam in your door. Those look dumb. If someone wants to steal mine, they are welcome to it. Ha!
I agree these are the chit in cold, snowy winter climates. I've been using them for years. They just work, and no they don't stick to the glass or blow off in wind. I'll be getting another for the Maverick. The posted model looks nicer than the one I have now.

Unless you park under some genetically altered tree this is a non-issue. I've had a car with a large gap there for 20 years and never took any special care to clear it.

Leaves dry up and blow out when driving.

Snow melts under the heat of a running engine.

A dude I worked with long ago had a 1970 Chevelle SS that had this same feature on it. He said it was “Coil Induction”😳, I don’t know if it’s wise to cover this up. 😉

I don't believe there is anything out to fill the gap at this point. Your fears are correct it does fill up with leaves and snow. It's a pain to clean out unfortunately, all you can do with snow is make sure you put the wipers in the service position (turn on and turn the truck off with them still up) and pull them up away from the window before snowfall. At least it makes cleaning it out easier.
Yep, that's what I showed her to do. Here in Maine we get snow often.
