Gap between windshield and hood

So I got my Maverick back in July and love it so far. However, I did not notice how large the gap is between the windshield and the hood. I live in the north and leaves are falling and there will be snow and this is going to be a pain to keep clean.

Is there any type of cap or filler for this? I know it needs to let air flow through, but I’d like to keep the leaves and snow from piling up there.

I don't believe there is anything out to fill the gap at this point. Your fears are correct it does fill up with leaves and snow. It's a pain to clean out unfortunately, all you can do with snow is make sure you put the wipers in the service position (turn on and turn the truck off with them still up) and pull them up away from the window before snowfall. At least it makes cleaning it out easier.

I disagree. Hundreds of varieties of these available. Which take care of both the large gap collecting leaves, as well as snow/ice/frost not only in the gap, but also on the actual windshield.

Good luck when it freezes to the window. Maybe more of a high humidity area issue I admit, typical here we start off with rain and it turns to snow as the temps drop quickly. Stuff like that isn't much use here anyway.

Never had that happen in many years of use. Where is the water coming from to freeze it to the windshield? Thru rain, slush, sleet, snow, everything......the cover just flips right off the windshield, taking all the snow and ice with it. Sometimes harder to flip off if it has a foot of snow on it, sure. Ha! But it doesn't freeze to the windshield. That is the entire point. If it did, turn on your defroster for 60 seconds to melt the millimeter of condensation that froze due to the windshield not being bone dry when you put the cover on......

How do those work if you have been driving as it snows, your windshield is wet and you cant get it dry, will that freeze to the windshield? It can get below 0 here then add windchill to that

A wet windshield is no problem. A couple drops freeze sure. But they don't stop you from removing the cover. I know from experience. It might sound a bit like velcro, but that is about it! Mine has a very slick/shiny waterproof rear, so the ice doesn't have much to "grab" onto. Glass is not a good surface for ice to adhere to either, so it takes very little effort to separate the two.
But to each their own. This solution works well to block off the giant hole between the hood and glass, that is for sure.

Mine has no magnets and has never flipped up in wind or anything. It is heavy enough material that it lays flat. It also has stiff "rods" on each end, so that allows for some ability for it to keep it's shape.

Maybe I just have a nice enough one that it has enough heft to keep it in place. Mine also doesn't use those anti-theft things you slam in your door. Those look dumb. If someone wants to steal mine, they are welcome to it. Ha!

What do I do with the wet cover? Toss it in my passenger foot well like a savage. Haha! Still better than needing to use an ice scraper. Nothing is perfect though.

This isn't a Maverick specific problem. This is just your first Ford truck.

It's an "issue" but us Maverick folks have a knack for complaining about everything.
