Mine looks like that but it doesn't bother me, yet. I guess if it gets any worse you can always break out the heat gun, carefully, and flatten it out.

Inexpensive truck means cost cutting is going to go on somewhere. I dont care about the plastics. Honestly I'd rather the cuts be done there instead of on the drivetrain and electronics.

Lariat Lux is $36,000. For that money, you'd think Ford would know how to cut out and secure a piece of plastic.

Although FWIW there is a very small H-shaped alignment nub directly at that point which I cut off during my speaker adventures to see if it was causing the bulge. It didn't initially affect it, but may be why mine has since settled.

Back in 1994 I bought a new Chevy Silverado C1500 full loaded special order. The 3 screws going through the defogger vent area that hold the dash up to the cab were tightened to where the plastic was slightly warped at the screw mounting points. It bothered me a little bit for awhile, but after 28 years of ownership notsomuch anymore. She may be an OBS, but she isnt for sale. I suppose that's not gonna bother me either. I plan on adding better dash speakers. I suppose i will likely shave that tab and make it fit a bit better.

What they used on the $20K XL and can reuse on the Lariat they will do so. I figure the miscellaneous minor trim panels, carpet, yada yada are the same regardless of what price level.

You all that bought upper levels got fancier components, additional capabilities and nicer touch surfaces.

But bottom line, its all based on a $20K truck. Frugality will be applied where it can be applied.

Geez, I honestly never looked that close to see if there is a tiny paper thin gap on mine or not. I don't go looking for problems or things to complain about though. It's a great truck that drives fine and gets awesome gas mileage. I'm not here to nitpick the thing to death and point out every tiny flaw because nothing comes off the line 100% perfect. I've worked for Porsche, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston martin and Mercedes and trust me, just because it's more expensive doesn't mean there are less tiny flaws. Enjoy the truck.

I would not bother pointing out the issue if the gap is really tiny paper thin. Truth is the gap is so large that it becomes quite noticeable every time you get on the vehicle. Still not a big deal overall but small things do eventually add up and makes you question whether ford can indeed do a better job around these areas. Toyota also makes cheap vehicles but I never noticed these problems. Besides that I really enjoy the truck and I agree with you nothing should be perfect at this price point.

Built in business card holder. If I cant get it to sit flat after a speaker swap, i may use it for that if its wide enough. Just wedge em in there.🤣🤣🤣

Leave it alone. Don’t mess with it. If you keep on touching it, you will probably scratch something.
Wrong, it’s you’ll probably go blind!!!!
