Has anyone else received this notice in the FordPass app?

I dont have that message. Do you have an older ford on your account this may apply to?

Seems poorly written. What do they mean there will no longer be support? The function will still work but don’t call if it breaks? What?

Not really. Oldest is our 2019 Expedition, which I would be very upset if it lost that functionality.

What operating system/level is your phone? The Feb 2023 FordPass software update knocked my Android 7 out of useability.

I would guess its the 2019. I have a 2020 F250 and 2022 Maverick on my account and do not have that message.

22 Bronco and 22 Maverick here, no message. The first thing I would try is remote unlock/lock and then remote start on each vehicle.

If one fails there's your answer. But then after that, I would update the infotainment on anything that failed. If it's not the Maverick you'll probably get much better answers on a forum specific to that model (Expedition or F-150).

The last thing I'd do is take it to a dealership.

But I will say, this thing will eventually come for all our trucks. Software and hardware deprecation will happen. 3G cellular for example, is gone, and any phone that doesn't have 4G is not going to work. So unless 10-20 years from now Ford decides to sell connectivity upgrade parts, or licenses a 3rd party the ability to do that, I am sure that some day Fordpass will not work on a 2022 Maverick. Still, that shouldn't be less than 4 years (oldest vehicle for the OP). At least twice that.

Lexus did the same thing to its pre 2019 models that used 3G network.

I just checked mine (2020 Escape and 2022 Explorer) and I do not have the same message. I doubt it is related to the 3G shutdown as that happened a year ago so you would have noticed before now.

My guess is that your Android OS may be out of date/too old to support the features of the new App version. Update your OS version and see if that takes care of things. It probably has a lot to do with security patches in Android that FordPass looks for in order to run on your phone. Without those patches, Ford may believe that your vehicles are vulnerable to being remotely accessed by someone other than you. IBM runs their servers and they are VERY picky about who and what accesses your data and remote start abilities.

Glad I have remote start in my 23 XLT . I had to get a new cell phone when I picked up my truck in Jan. Ford pass worked but a month later my phone would not support it .I called Ford support and was told my android was outdated . Works fine on the new phone .

Its not relating to the version of Android I have. I'm running an S22 running Android 13.

I guess we'll see what happens on the 24th. As others have said, if it was relating to the 3G shutdown, that happened over a year ago.

My tin foil hat opinion is that Ford signed a 5 year agreement with AT&T for data service for vehicles to provide those services and that contract is now up for the older vehicles and Ford doesn't want to enter into a new contract.

I doubt it also, I mainly wanted to use the 3G retirement as an example of the inevitability of technology deprecation. The 4G LTE modem in our Mavericks will eventually be unsupported, it's just a question of how far in the future that will occur. Ford might discontinue application support before that happens.
