I have a galaxy 3, mainly use to track my sleep. How did you get the app on your watch. I can't find the app when searching the store on the watch. Thanks
For me, I searched on the "Wearable" phone app. Selected the search icon on the main screen at the top right corner.

When I tested the WiFi being used for the Fordpass functions of getting a reading from truck or sending a signal to truck - it was NOT used.
Meaning I'm watching the WiFi AP for connections to it - the truck never connected once it disconnected shortly after turn-off.

Only cellular appears to be used.

Also another aspect for reason app method may not work - low battery and deep sleep mode engaged - so keypad still useful!
Weird cuz I tried multiple watches last night and they all worked two have cellular while two I used have Wi-Fi & Bluetooth.

You had mentioned your devices and the app function in relation to outside keypad being useful or not.

Kinda makes the outside keypad useless?
I say yes and no, because for the app to work you need to have connection to Wi-Fi or cellular data. No Wi-Fi or cellular available, no access.

-----------------------

I was adding the truck only connects thru cell, not wifi.
That's the other side of the equation for the app to work - truck connecting to cell for the app to do it's thing.

And actually - battery being strong enough to NOT be in deep sleep mode with modem disabled to conserve battery.

Yeah I have a 24 so mine doesn't even have a keypad.

I think what he's saying is that the truck doesn't use wifi for telematics connectivity, only cellular.

I agree with that. The only time I've seen my truck use wifi is when I go in and check for system updates through the infotainment menu.

Yeah I knew the truck didn't use Wi-Fi, I thought he was referring to his watch being a Bluetooth in Wi-Fi only model not working with Ford pass.

Which brings up another funny topic how supposedly some of these trucks don't have a 4G modem in them due to the chip shortage crap. Yet they get a cellular signal via the Ford pass app.😉

With the watch connected to your phone, go to the play store on your phone. Search for Ford Pass. It showed my watch to be install on.

Dang, I just have to use my keypad that came with the truck or ford pass on my phone. My Timex just keeps on ticking and the difference in cost of the watches is in the bank....:teehee:
Yeh, I am old as dirt. Today is my 80th birthday and just do not know how I made it without a Dick Tracy watch!:cwl:

You can set up Alexa routines to start the truck, so I assume to lock/unlock it as well.
Just make a routine that "asks Ford pass to start vehicle with Pin 1234(whatever you set.)"

Noticed the Ford Pass app on my OnePlus Watch 2 last week, but I thought it was because I got a new pixel 9 Pro XL.
I'd have to see it in action to believe Alexa would work with Ford Pass app. post a video if you get it to work.

It absolutely works. I did this way back in early 2023 for my 2022 model year Maverick. Used it once and then forgot it existed. It does require verbally saying a PIN number to Alexa. But it works.

If you put the pin number in the routine, you don't have to say it.

Here's one where you just say Alexa start the Maverick.

They all have 4G modems, never saw a comment about chip shortage being reason why the customer facing service was stopped, which wouldn't make sense 2 years in instead of right after the pandemic supply issues.
They don't get cell signal via the Fordpass app, the truck will use the modem to send up truck data whether you have a Ford account and app established with it or not.

Someone stopped providing the backend infrastructure to allow customer data to piggyback out to the internet thru the same modem with data going to Ford.
Ford obviously had a deal with ATT - ATT probably said the uptake is so low we ain't messing with it anymore.

I need to test it again, but the first time I tried on my watch it told me I needed to open the app on my phone first. I hope that was just a one-time thing. If my watch tells me to open the app on my phone every time, then the watch app is useless in my opinion. It did allow me to start my truck from my watch after I opened the phone app though. So it does function.
As you found out, the watch app (iOS) works once you sign in to the phone version. Not sure how long before it requires another log in to the phone. I have a garage door opener app that will occasionally ask for the same and then lasts for a week. I think it depends on how often you use the watch. I need to be more observant now that we have the convenience of the watch.

Interesting. I wonder if Alexa can “cross the aisle” and do the same with the iOS technology. I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for the inspiration.

Someone on the Ford Maverick sub-Reddit posted this yesterday and I read it tonight, and confirmed that yes indeed, the Ford Pass application does now work on Android smart watches. In my case, a Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, and the original Reddit post was for a Pixel Watch 3, so presumably, most Wear OS watches.

You're my hero, I been looking forward for this since I got the maverick. Thanks a lot for the info.
