The problem with their story is that you never got an email notice that your order had been entered, and it sounds like you also called Ford and they did not have it. Even if it had been cancelled for some reason it should have been in the computer system with a cancelled status.

Most(but not all) people got email confirmation of orders within 30 minutes of it being placed or at least 24 hours. It could be coincidence that you did not get that but it sounds likely that you never got it since it was never actually entered.

I suspect that what happened was that your order was written up and placed in a stack of paper but not entered since the manager who was actually authorized to enter orders was out of the office until later in the week.

I have heard at some dealerships that only one, or maybe two people are authorized to enter orders.

It could be that by the time that manager got back the order book could have been closed. Now it is easier to just blame Ford than to say they made a mistake.

In fairness Ford said that they would give the dealers a weeks notice of the order book closing so delaying entering the order should not have been a problem. I don't recall exactly but I think it was more like two or three days notice instead of a week.

Some further context, he said Ford told him there were multiple orders under my name and wanted to know if I had the same truck ordered from another dealer. I id not place another order that generated a Preview anywhere but this one but had ordered on their website and was immediately contacted and told to use the link in the email and do the credit app. I filled the order out again and eventually got the Preview order for the second order which had one difference and signed and returned. It was submitted first without my signature and contact info apparently but I have read that the COVP was not required until Oct. 5. I'm beside myself with the cluster this has turned into.
Your dealer is totally giving you the runaround. Ford doesn't care how many orders you place at how many dealers. Ford doesn't need a credit app required to accept or process your order.

Period. End of story.

Your dealer sounds shady. Or incompetent. Or both.

I have been trying to get confirmation of my Maverick order since 9/19/22 and today I escalated my concerns to a GM of my dealership and got an email from the sales manager who is trying to get to the bottom of the issue. Part of the email read:

"The other thing that could be happening is a purge of orders. Ford has admitted that they couldn't close the order banks fast enough so all orders taken Sunday and Monday were not going to get filled. They haven't made anything official yet But it is possible that they have already started purging deals from those two days."

Holy Shit! Has anyone else heard anything about this fiasco?
That doesn't make any sense.

Ford released a notice to the dealers on Monday saying that the order bank for the Hybrid will be closing on Tuesday and the EcoBoost closing on Wednesday. The order banks for both closed at that the exact time that they stated and not any earlier or later.

Ford already knew how many orders had been submitted at that point. So why would they now be purging all orders from Sunday and Monday?

Having more than one order doesn't matter. It doesn't say anywhere that the 2023 Maverick is limited to one per person? You can order and buy as many as you like.

Sounds like your dealer is making this up.

Either they screwed up your order and are now blaming Ford. Or if there is an order then my bet is that they were hoping that you would say yes you have an order with another dealer. Then they would have made you give up the one with them so they can keep it since they probably got a low number of allocations.

If that software isn't programmed ahead of time it isn't going to work. And good luck putting that jira ticket in after the fact. It will sit in the queue.
Bless you for thinking that Ford uses any sort of modern development tools. I wouldnt be shocked to hear that in order to open a ticket you have to email some Jr Dev who adds it to a spreadsheet.

My first clue and red flag was not hearing from Ford and being told by the Sales manager and the sales rep "trust me it's in , we're good". Yaaa...NO! Never really trusted what I was hearing so I was on them from day one about not getting any confirmation.

I don't think there was a software limitation. Ford announced a few days in advance when they expected to shut it down so they obviously already had a mechanism in place to shut it down. Setting the date is likely just a parm change that can be done by pretty much anyone with access, if not handled by an admin portal on the UI side. Plus, doesn't matter what the ticketing priority protocol is. If the SVP in charge tells you to shut it down, you shut it down.

Whether Ford took too many orders than they can handle or not is still up in the air. But I highly doubt is was a result of not having their application set up to shut the door whenever they wanted to. For an ordering platform, that's ground-level functionality.

Did you get a copy of the order preview form? It could be that they entered and saved the order but never hit submit.

That they were closing on Wednesday. So, something got changed in the system to accommodate that change. Ford sells over 5 million vehicles a year worldwide. I highly doubt the ordering platform they are using is missing basic functionality like setting a date to stop taking orders.
