After talking to Ford, I have to take in my 2025 XLT to have the Modem reset because it won't connect to the Ford Pass. It was connected but suddenly was not. I rely on the remote start feature.
1. Anyone know about the Modem reset issue?
2. Can I sit in the truck, push start, then manually lock the door, get out, go into the house while it warms up, then get back in with the key fob in my pocket?

I too am having issues with Ford Pass and it not connecting to the vehicle. As I type, in fact, the app says I’m parked 15 miles away and still have a full tank of gas. There have been a couple threads about Ford Pass problems lately. I have:
  • rebooted my phone several times;
  • uninstalled and reinstalled FordPass;
  • toggled both Remote Start and Automatic Updates in the vehicle;
  • verified that this issue is not limited to a single device, but is happening with every device I own.

Who did you talk to at Ford?

This is what I get when I try to remote start:

Ford Maverick Ford Pass Remote Start Problem 2025 XLT 1737766804512-r5

EDIT: Talked to the Ford Customer Relationship Center via chat because I discovered my dashboard was saying I had service actions, and I was curious what they meant since I have 275 miles on the truck. I found out that, "there are several health alerts that state 'Invalid Data Received From Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module).'" Oh goody.

Yes, mine is doing the same thing.

When I called Ford customer service they had me get in the truck and toggle off all the Connectivity settings and then put them back on. I was also told to press on the steering wheel the far left button (speak?) and far right button (fast fwd?) together for 10 seconds to reset but none if this worked to reconnect the Ford Pass to the vehicle.

They said to contact the dealership to have my Modem reset. When I called to schedule that, they were a bit at a loss as to how long it would take because it is not a common thing. Now, I'm not sure I want to do that.

Not sure what I did but I went back into the Ford Pass app and viewed Location. Still the same as before. Then I went into Connected Services and looked. Then checked my % and Miles range and it has changed. So I tried locking the truck because it is always unlocked in the garage and IT WORKED!

Maybe the app glitches and sometimes it works. I was reading other posts about people having problems with the Ford Pass app.

SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT. Yes. XLT 2025. Was working up to yesterday. Then the data went stale.

I have gone as far as removing my vehicle/de-authorizing it in FordPass and then trying to re-add it. I cant get the authorization screen to come up in the truck...... My phone keeps saying it is timing out/I did not accept the connection request.

Honestly this sucks, but I am glad to hear it is not just me. I REALLY hope I cant find a way to fix this without a visit to the dealership.

@Desiree and @LibDan , I think they either have fixed it centrally (on the server side for all customers), or I found a fix. If you still have your truck, try this.....

1. Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone. Do the same on the truck, turn off the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in the truck connectivity menu. You do not want your phone trying to connect to the truck via Android Auto or Apple Car Play, and you want the truck to only be trying to communicate with Ford via the built in cell phone chip that connects to cell towers.
2. Do a "FordPass Connect Reset" in the big infotainment screen of the truck. It takes a few minutes.
3. When the reset is done, go turn on all the sliders in the connectivity screen of the truck, allowing it to send data to Ford. Not Wi-Fi and Bluetooth yet, but the ones about sharing vehicle location and blah blah blah.....
4. If you still have your truck added in your cell phone FordPass App, remove/delete the truck from the app. Then add it back in to the app by scanning your VIN barcode on your drivers door frame, or entering your VIN manually by typing it in.
5. Go thru the prompts to add it.
6. Once it is back working and added in the app (working as expected) THEN you can turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth back on for both your cell phone and the truck. If you had Android Auto or Apple Car play, it should reconnect all on its own.

This worked for me this morning after MANY failed attempts last night. I have done a deep dive on some of the other Ford Vehicle Forums for this same issue, and the trend seemed to be the following.

1. This has been happening off and on for years (according to how old some of the other forum posts are).
2. Many different Ford models, but mostly those with Sync 4.
3. Turning off the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth seems to be one of the key breakthroughs to get it to connect.
4. If you fail to connect 5 times in a row, it makes you wait 24 hours to try again. It seems some people have a message tell them this, some discover it by accident (either by finally having someone at ford tell them, or finding it works 24 hours later). So if you have tried to connect unsuccessfully 5 times, might as well take a 24 hour break, since it is unlikely to work for you that same day.

To answer your question of "Can I sit in the truck, push start, then manually lock the door, get out, go into the house while it warms up, then get back in with the key fob in my pocket? "

Yes, you can. For me I have had to sometimes push the lock button more than once since it has helpfully immediately unlocked my truck since it was still running. But you can definitely have it running while locked. In fact, you can even have it running with a FOB inside the truck. To make that happen, you have it running, leave the FOB somewhere inside, leave, hit the lock button on the door handle, and then it will usually immediately unlock and sometimes chirp to warn that the FOB is inside and it is running. But if you have the second FOB in your hand and lock it again, it recognizes that you have the second FOB in your possession and will lock the truck while it is still running, with a FOB inside. I've tested it, and also seen it written in one of the Ford vehicle manuals. I don't recall if it was a Maverick manual, but I went down that rabbit hole a couple days ago and read about the process in an "official" ford manual.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh and you want to know something funny that seems like a "lifehack"? When it reconnected, my FordPass App now tells me that my free "Alexa Built In" and "Premium Connectivity" trials start TODAY (1/25/25). Even though I had originally activated them when I picked up my truck. So.....doing this reset also resets the duration of those free trials? Hmmmmm.......

RE:#2. Sit in truck, push start, may want to uncheck 30 minutes max idle time, leave mode in Park, set the EBrake, get out with fob, shut door, double lock with fob or door ribs or keypad, don't forget truck is running!

Would this potentially fix it permanently going forward because doing this every few days would suck?

Subsequent to my post above, I discovered that my dashboard in my Ford account was saying that a sevice action was required… at 269 miles. It doesn’t tell you what the action is or why it thinks so, so I used the chat. I was told that it was registering "Invalid Data Received From Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module)." I have no lights on my dash though. They referred me to the FordPass number. I called that and they confirmed that my modem was not communicating even though I had tried several times. It would not reset, so they said to take it to the dealership.

I may have had a blip with my Alexa too but that could be user error as I try to adapt to all this technology.

Still, there is obviously some problem in spite of my truck having been randomly selected for additional quality checking according to a sticker on it. I guess they don’t check FordPass. Or, for that matter whether the passenger grab bar is tightly screwed on or the center console closes properly.

I also have an XLT 2025, got it on Jan 22, 2025. I was able to connect fine until this morning, which led me to this forum. I tried everything recommended here, except a cellular modem reset, and nothing worked. I contacted the dealership where I bought the car and they told me Ford is aware of the issue and will be providing a SW update. I don't know when. Make sure the car is setup to receive updates and connect it to your home WiFi.

I'm betting Ford had an issue with the server, or ATT.
Perhaps they forgot to pay the ATT bill, or sent a list of modems to disable from connecting, and discovered error and got them enabled.

As far as TCU reset if that really was a solution - shoot my Android Forscan Lite has that as a function - takes 2 minutes.
Of course dealership would probably need to do rest the setup routine to confirm it works.

Incredible that an issue with multiple radio's on at once would cause a problem.
That seems like it would be ongoing, because if it got by once, like for initial registration, and it required no other radios on then, why did it work for a bit.

Following thread if it comes back for those that did the reset.

My 2024 Lariat connected to my home router and two different WiFi’s at work.
All on the first try.
All three routers are on the newest protocols, internet six I think it’s referred to as that.
It remote starts with the Ford pass app every time.

But it’s faster if I use my key fob thingy.

Try it again the day before it expires lol. I wonder if they have logic that says "new activation = new trial" for anyone that buys one used or something.

I successfully connected my 2025 XLT to my Android phone hotspot, thinking it could be a cellular network connection (modem issue). I am still not able to connect fordpass to it. If the connection is attempted over any internet connection and not exclusively on the cellular network, then it could be a server issue. I tried reseting everything I can and still no luck. Pretty frustrating and a lot of time wasted. I hope someone from Ford quality is actually monitoring these threads.
