Soapy water (as in a very small amount of plain liquid hand soap in a good amount of water) will prevent the adhesive from immediately grabbing and give you a few tens of seconds to get comfortable with the placement... without affecting the adhesion after it dries. Just don't use any solvents by mistake or you will have trouble with the adhesion afterward!
Soapy water helps.👍

Maybe I'm tired and hungry - but I just pictured someone trying to be ready for those tenths of a second correction time, but missing how easy it slides with soapy water - and ending up with almost diagonal stripe up the hood.

😂
I've had customers trying to DRY apply the decals pictured below.
You have to use application gel or soapy water.

As for the thread title - my hood on drivers side was "noticeably" lower than the fender on drivers side. Very annoying from drivers position. Found a threaded rubber bumper on each side of hood. A couple of twists of that and it lined up pretty good.
Based on my experience, I bet you can also just drive around at highway speeds with a good crosswind, and the hood will flutter and shimmy right into a new alignment. 😀

🤓 I have the LUND unit sold through Ford accessories. Fits like a glove. Easy to install.

I was wondering when people post stuff like that what kind of reaction they think they're going to get. I mean if I posted something that was obviously my fault I would expect people to call me out on my b*******.

I don't think anyone was trying to be disrespectful, maybe some comments were made in jest. Application problem was a fair observation followed by how to do it properly. Patience, precision, attention to detail are all key for a proper installation.

The fit is right

The thing is about leaving the hood revealed on the ends .... is that the deflector/protector expands in the heat and sun and covers those visible gaps quite well - Designed with that in mind, no doubt being offset may get interesting on a warm sunny day ....

Cheers

Yes but the OP was blaming Ford for the Hood Protector design. He is a walley who (1) edited his original post when he didn't get the support he craved and (2) won't show his face again. The temerity of some people.
