I recently installed a similar thing from Amazon, not
Maxzina, that attaches with clips and screws easily and maybe it’s my imagination but the sound seems to be a few decibels less

Saw this today and wondered if anyone has tried this brand? Its made for the Maverick and seems like a thicker material than the Maxzina one others have posted.

Some folks want to quiet the engine noise and others (me) want to enhance it. This forum is definitely not an “echo chamber” - which is wonderful.

I might consider that liner to filter dirt & sop up any moisture dripping from the holes I drill in my hood to make my Air Design Scoop functional:)

That seems a little high priced but easy to install. I got this from Amazon. Cut to fit and self sticking. Just as thick as OEM versions. Enough to do two under hoods and was only $40.00. Seems to quiet engine noise down just a bit and also provides a little heat rejection.

When you say it provides a little heat rejection, you mean it helps keep the engine heat in the engine bay instead of letting it radiate out into the environment?

I guess what i'm trying to say is that the heat does not penetrate the hood, hopefully keep the paint prestene. Always had this on previous vehicles, some came with from the factory.

I'd say the paint on the hood is safe from heat as it shouldn't be getting hot enough to cook on in the first place, of course this is without there being other issues under the hood ... - as far as dampening engine noise - i use the radio - even though the engine is not obnoxious at all - used to the sounds after driving a "sewing machine sounding" Honda Accord for many years. I'd also add any claims of heat or sound dampening demand evidence - video with meters ... especially to justify that price ;)

Cheers

This is my first Ford and first Hybrid. This engine is very noisy. 1) there's subtle vacuum sound that seems like its sucking air in/out. 2) when the engine warming up and toggles from electric to hybrid I hear and feel a grinding that feels like it comes from the transmission tunnel near the accelerator. Both are like finger nails on a chalk board.
When you add these two big items to annoyances of A/C always turning on at start (fan speed must be at least 1) and seat belt message "OK", it really grates at me.
So, if I could address at least the vacuum sound with insulation that could help. I'm having the dealer look into the grinding and the A/C issue.

The vacuum sound is because the engine is one big air pump. It is in fact, sucking air into the engine. That sound is normal.

About the grinding, are you feeling it, or are you hearing it? If you are indeed feeling it, sound insulation in the hood isn’t going to change it. Not seeing your individual truck, I’m not sure what it is, but you might be experiencing drag from the generator charging up the HV battery. I wouldn’t call it grinding, but it does make change in the tone of the engine and you can feel vibrations from it.

The grinding I feel and hear it which is why I asked the dealer to check. However, I know its hard to produce and just need to drive the car. We had it since March and have 8k miles so I know its very real and it makes me cringe.
The insulation might help the vacuum sound and if I can get a win from that then I'll take it.

Please let us know what the dealer says it's always good to be aware of potential issues going forward:)

Just picked up my truck. Surprisingly the the dealer not only validated my concerns for the grinding and A/C but they also provided a detailed description. However, I'm very disappointed in Ford's design. I don't like this Atkinson motor/Hybrid system and the HVAC software. Likely going to be the first and last Ford I will own. For a $40k vehicle this is not what I expect.
