Any engine that breaks a connecting rod has the same fire potential. If that rod go through the block or the oil pan and dumps hot oil on the exhaust. The issue is the dummy that doesn’t shut it down when it starts to knock.

Don't really understand the logic of a person putting their family at a perceived risk waiting for Ford to act. You either think it's a legit risk or not. If you truly believe there is a risk and do not act to remove that risk you're likely guilty of reckless endangerment if not legally then morally.
You and your family are at risk every time you hit the road. We make decisions based on the perceived risk. But we’re not entirely comfortable with this one yet.

Sell it keep your family safe, I believe Hyundai has a similar vehicle. If my family wants in any unsafe vehicle, I wouldn't work tomorrow and trade into something I felt they were safe in.
Oops, Hyundai and Kia just recalled 3.4 million of their cars today for engine fires, even telling owners to park them outside. Every manufacturer has problems like this - last year Mercedes sent out notices to 800,000 owners warning about possible fires. And don't say Toyotas are safe because they have had fire recalls.
To be totally safe you need to go back to horse and buggy.

So if I understand the article correctly, the cause of a fire is a "block breach" or in layman's term your Maverick either has a cracked engine block or a hole in the engine block. The failure must be in the casting process. If it was going to throw a rod through the block you'd think you'd hear that coming. It also includes model year 2023.
Hmm... What to do. I'm thinking the stateside 2.5's were a better build than the Mexican one. Too bad. Not the 1st engine problem with the Chihuahua plant.
The problem is a poorly manufactured crank shaft, which if it fails could puncture the block and oil pan. That is unless the second recall is for a second issue with the engine, which would explain why the number of vehicles recalled was expanded.

Love the forum but having this topic at the top popularity isn't something that I'm going to add to Good luck to you and your family and whatever car you choose. I'm heading over to people doing mods and just everyday life with their Maverick.

So, now you're blaming the victims? Utter nonsense! Like I said, I drive the truck locally, but stay off the freeways. Here's a thought: There's a perceived risk of driving the freeways, yet you do regardless. I suppose I can judge you guilty of reckless endangerment for same? What a load!
Ford is not the only one with issues KIA and Hyundai announced 3.37M vehicles recalled over fire risk.

When did ford start making this engine? Wasn't it around before they put it in hybrid vehicles?

Confused to how its having issues now, unless things got really messed up when they changed the cycle from otto.

So happy to have an ecoboost lmao
I am happy as well about changing my Hybrid order to EB2.0. One the other hand, this is not a laughing matter for hybrid owners, even if you don't have one...

It's only a subset of engines during a certain time period. Likely a QA/QC issue with a robot on the line, some type of bad source material, etc. and not the design of the engine itself.

Calm down.
If you are that concerned about a very rare possibility of fire, remove the shield from under the engine.
I'm more concerned about catastrophic engine failure leaving me stranded, thank you very much.
