I parked next to a gold one of these today.
Ford Maverick Ford Explorer Sport Trac 2001_Ford_Explorer_Sport_Trac_Preview_summaryIma

Under the hood, the Sport Trac offered one engine choice for 2001, a 4.6 liter single overhead cam V-6 that delivered 205 horsepower and 240 lb.-ft. of torque. Gas mileage wasn't anything special, with a rating of 15 mpg city, 19 mpg highway. This Ford was priced from $22,000 to $25,000.

I was to lazy too take pictures of my Maverick parked next to a gold one I found. But I did do a walk around.
I've never owned or driven this model but I have ridden in the front and back seats. I found It very Interesting and my brain started up. A Lap later I had made 128,000 comparisons.

Lots of obvious differences, then I started to see the similarities.
They got us to buy Mini vans to fit on our garages, our lives.
The Station wagon became todays SUV,
Then came the Crew Cab and garage sized trucks. Ford did it. They merged the SUV and the mini truck.

The Sport Trac was a nice ride and wouldn’t total out if hit in the rear at a low rate of speed like the Maverick.
I miss body on frame architecture.

It's like a 2 cycle dirt bike at first then an up right twin cam four, What ?
Oh, my mind.

Never like them until I bought one.
My Explorer Sport Trac.
The 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac came standard with a 4.0-liter cologne SOHC V6 engine producing 210 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, with a five-speed automatic transmission available as an option.
I had the automatic. I took the nerf step bars off.

Sold it, when U Haul would not rent me a trailer. U-Haul would put a motorcycle trailer behind my Yaris but not the Sport Trac.

U-Haul generally does not allow the rental of trailers behind Ford Explorers, including Sport Trac models, due to a policy implemented in 2003. This policy is not related to safety concerns but rather due to high litigation costs associated with lawsuits involving Ford Explorers towing trailers. U-Haul has stated that they incur higher legal fees when defending lawsuits involving Ford Explorers towing combinations.

It actually was a 4.0 SOHC V-6 like mentioned in Post 3.

I had that engine in my 2010 Mustang.

I agree, Ford hit the nail on the head with the Maverick. It sure is reminiscent of the Sport Trac with the size and proportions.

Also had that 4.0L V6 in my previous 2005 Ranger FX4. Power was fine, but man was it thirsty!

It’s funny this comparison is being made as it was my first impression when I started working on Maverick prototypes. The first part of the vehicle I walked up to was the bed and my first comment was “wow this is just like the Sport Trac”. On the topic of comparisons, it’s funny that the Adrenaline package is akin to the Lobo of the Maverick with its sporty appearance. And similar to the Lobo they had all the options in the world to make it a step above the other trims but chose not to give us a more unique power plant. SVT actually built a prototype Adrenaline earlier that had a supercharged 4.6 motor in it but ended up not wanting to step on their other products and axed that idea. I would have loved to see Ford Performance actually take more into their catalog and have put the 2.3L in the Lobo.

Isn't the bed of the Maverick a half a foot longer than the sport track?

Yes they did, but with names Ford makes lots of mistakes for some unknown reason.
Like the electric mustang.
Someone should be horse whipped for putting the Sacred Mustang name on anything that doesn’t growl and burn gas.
Mustang GTD that’s a Super Car now.

“
The Ford Mustang GTD has achieved a remarkable lap time of 6:52.072 at the NĂĽrburgring Nordschleife, making it the fastest American production car to lap the track. This time is significantly faster than the previous record of 6:57.685, which was also set by the Mustang GTD. The Mustang GTD is now the fourth-fastest production sports car overall at the NĂĽrburgring, according to Ford.

The Mustang GTD's performance at the NĂĽrburgring is a testament to its engineering and performance capabilities. The car's sub-7-minute lap time is a significant achievement, particularly for an American production car, and it showcases the Mustang GTD's potential on a demanding track like the NĂĽrburgring.

The Mach E could have been labeled anything. It should not be associated with the Stang.

I like the fact, that with the Sport Trac you didn't have to worry about a bed liner. It was the bed and liner in one.

Designed specifically for the Sport Trac, the 50-inch long pickup bed was constructed entirely of plastic composite material; the tailgate was shared with the Ford F-150 SuperCrew.

I had a single fold hard bed cover.

Back when I had my Sport Trac, I rented trailers from a local place that supplied contractors. They had no issues renting me a trailer loaded with 24' scaffolding. Trailer and scaffolding was all aluminum, well under weight limits.
