Now, I am aware that this isn't the 2.0L Ecoboost in the Maverick that they are looking at, but considering how far beyond the Bronco this has gone,it will be interesting to see if the same quality issues drift over into the Maverick (knock on wood)

Ford changed valves in October 2021 to address the problem. As far as I know that fixed the issue though there a number of 2021s and some 2022s out there with the old stock. As of this date it is an investigation and not a recall.
I remember for my time at bronco6g the failures were on low mileage vehicles so basically if you got an engine with bad valves they failed pretty soon.

Why would issues with the 2.7L and 3.0L V6s produced in 2021 and 2022 carryover to the Maverick? If I could have ordered mine with a 2.7L or a 3.0L and I missed my opportunity I am going to be pissed!!!

I'm sure all the bronco owners are worried about the hybrid engine fires too!

Initial Bronco 2.7L V6s were blowing up, one of the reasons why I ordered my Wife’s Bronco with the 2.3 I4.

Nothing to relate to the Maverick though.

Unless you have insight knowledge on the Maverick Raptor R with bed mounted 3.0L V6

861 known failures out of 700k+ engines built any company would be satisfied with that failure rate

Prior to Maverick's introduction, the 2.0EB (and the 1.5EB 4-cyl) had a design problem that caused a LOT of short blocks (including the one in my Escape) to be replaced under warranty.

Here is some light reading for you,,,, https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/2-0-ecoboost-motor-coolant-in-cylinder-issue.18364/

Seriously? There have been failures on the engines for the Saturn 5 rockets to the moon. Maybe we should be worrying about Ford putting one of those in a Maverick! Jeez!

Doesn't apply to Maverick. And the defective engines have already failed. Not exactly sure what they are investigating at this point.

Would a 2.7L even fit in the Maverick? 2.3L sure.
Yes. In usual Ford fashion, they make an engine compartment large enough to fit two engines in.

It's specifically on 21-22 2.7 engines, so how's it going to 'drift over'?
For 21 models built before October to be exact

Also the Escape? My friend has been without her car (they did loan her a 2 year newer escape) for 6 months sitting in a hot parking lot at the ford dealership instead of her garage 🤷🏼‍♂️

SO, I apparently needed to be a bit clearer. I certainly understand you aren't using the same parts in Maverick engines as these engines. What I meant was that if you QA is bad enough to have a defect possibly happen in 4-5 models over the timeframe it did, I think its reasonable to bit concerned that that poor QA could happen in the Maverick at some point. Kinda disappointed on some of the bit on responses, but hey, guess thats the internet.

So by your logic every recall that a manufacturer has ever had should be weighed against any model. Maybe get a Vinfast, then? They've only had 1 recall. I hear they're real top quality vehicles.
