The 2.7 v6 is unrelated to the 2.0 I4 in the Maverick.

The 2.7 v6 has a plastic oil pan.
The 2.0 in the maverick has an aluminum oil pan.

The 2.7 v6 has a belt driven oil pump
The 2.0 in the Maverick has a chain driven oil pump.

The 2.7 v6 has an iron block.
The 2.0 in the maverick has an aluminum block.

The Engines are made in different factory's, for vehicles assembled in different factories.

The 2.0 is on an engine platform that was first made over 10 years before the 2.7

So totally different engine. And with the first design of each engine happening so many years apart design ideas have changed a lot.

I am sure if they did a clean sheet 2.0L I4 today we would get a plastic oil pan too, but I am glad we have an older design that has a metal one.

QA primarily focuses on the processes and procedures that improve quality, including training, documentation, monitoring and audits. QC focuses on the product to find defects that remain after development.

Doesn't apply to Maverick. And the defective engines have already failed. Not exactly sure what they are investigating at this point.



Yes. In usual Ford fashion, they make an engine compartment large enough to fit two engines in.
Wow two engines in a Tremor AKA Graboid option!!!!
