Anyone install the Ford drop in bed liner (multi-piece plastic unit) after their bed was Rhino lined? I had the dealer spray the Rhino liner (they have a side business and do it themselves) and they did a great job. It is much thicker and heavier than I would have thought - almost like a thick hard plastic covering. I had already purchased a drop in Ford bed liner and wanted to know if anyone has installed it over the Rhino liner and if so did they have any kind of clearance issues with it? I plan on re-tapping all the unused screw holes since I bought hooks for every hole location. The Rhino installer did not want to pre-cover any of the mounting holes and I understood his concern since it is a lifetime guarantee.

If you installed a Ford drop in bed over the Rhino liner let me know what issues you had if any.
Thanks

Never a DIBL. Always a SIBL. A SIBL will last much longer that a DIBL, plus will not crack over time, not expand nor contract with the heat/cold.

This is a bit off topic but not totally. WeatherTech has been indicating for months now that they were tooling a drop in bed liner for the Maverick. A few days ago I received an email that it was now available so I ordered one. The photo which I now feel was totally misleading showed a vehicle with a bed liner and tailgate liner. The listing only showed one listing to click on so I ordered it. When the box arrived I knew something was wrong as the box was too small. Opening I confirmed my suspicions as it contained a tailgate liner and no bed liner.
Calling them the CSR said the bed is still in tooling but could not give me a date when it would be available. So if you want the tailgate liner without the bed they’re taking orders now. For the bed liner your guess is as good as mine.

I would say don't do it. I have the Ford drop-in bed liner and I don't see how it would remain fit and tight over a spray-in liner. You're better off selling the drop-in bed liner and just get as people suggested a bed mat. If you're really wanting something softer for the sides...take a look at BedRug as they have options for covering spray-in bed liners. The BedRug in my previous F-150 lasted for 12 years.

Why? Sincere question, why would you install one OVER the existing Rhino?
Spray in liners are hard to load stuff.you can't easily slide an item into place to secure it.thats why I went with a drop in liner. Maybe he realized that?

I have installed my DIBL twice. It is a very snug fit.

You would probably have to do a lot of trimming where the pieces com together.

Update. I installed the Ford drop in bed liner that I purchased online on top of the Rhino spray in liner that a dealer had done. The drop in bed went in without any trimming other than cutting out the holes for the two panels in the rear bed for the power and storage. I also trimmed ne or two places around that same areas but it was very minor. The drop in liner went in and it is a very tight fit but it fits. I had to oval shape a few holes in the bed liner for the tie done locations since they were drilled off a bit but that was very minor. I also had used a 8mmx1.25 tap to clean out the screw holes that had Rhino material in them. Those 8 screw holes (other ones done my dealer when they remounted the standard tie down brackets) literally took me 5 minutes for all of then using a Ryobi impact driver. Once installed I put a Tyger 3 piece cover on top without any issues. I expect the drop in liner to last 10-15 years like my old Mazda one did...same material, then I use the Rhino. Onto Waxoyl-ing the vehicle.

Lol, my 1994 Ranger didn't get your memo about DIBL durability nor did anyone else's. Mine was in at time of sale in 2017 having been put in in 1995 having been parked outside its entire life. Looked the same as when I installed it.

I've had both in different trucks and the DIBL is my preference. Drag some cargo that's overly rough or sharp in your bed (wood with drywall screws or nails would be an example) and I've had it go right through the spray-in to scratch and expose the bare metal. With a drop-in, it's a gouge in the plastic but doesn't go through to the metal. Plus, it's nice to be able to slide things more easily on the plastic. It feels easier to ratchet strap things so they don't move on a drop-in than it is to slide something on grippier spray-in.

Is the weather tech tailgate liner hard plastic or more like their floor mats?
