I have a 2018 Sprinter LTV Class C and I just had my 2022 Hybrid Lariat set up to be towed. Previously had a Wrangler for toad and had all the Blue Ox equipment so I went with the Blue Ox Base Plate, Blue Ox Tow Bar and Patriot II braking system. After seeing someone else post a Roadmaster baseplate I must admit I like the looks of it a lot more than the Blue Ox. I just went with Blue Ox to save money. I took it out yesterday for test run behind my RV, went to CATS scale and Maverick weighed 3860 lbs compared to my Wrangler was 4780 lbs, so now I can take 900 lbs more stuff I don’t need ha. Easy set up for towing, I use portable trailer lights. Only issue I see is the Patriot II plugs into cigarette lighter and it only stays energized for 90 minutes after turning off accessories. Sorry for the long post, my first post on this forum.
If you don't mind me asking how much you spend getting it set up as a toad?

Hello all I am a new member and am expecting delivery of a hybrid XLT next week. I purchased this vehicle specifically because it can be flat towed behind my motorhome with all four wheels down (per the owners manual). Anybody out there with experience towing a Maverick?
I wouldn't unless unless you physically disconnect it at the wheels. Better to use a tow dolly.

$900.00 for baseplate installed; I bought the tow bar and patriot ii brake in 2018 from Blue Ox. Can’t remember the price but you can find that on the website; Grapevine, TX

Here’s my setup with roadmaster baseplate, and I’m using a ready brute elite ll tow bar from NSA tow bars with brake assist.

Mike,
I plan on using that same setup. Can you post a picture of where the brake cables go through the firewall and how they're connected to the brake pedal? Also, can you describe or show pictures of their routing through the engine bay?

TIA, Linda

whys that?
Well, you'd be turning a lot of internals that might not be getting properly lubed. Of course, that's with a normal vehicle and the hybrid isn't normal so maybe it will work if you say the manual okay's it?

The manual not only ok's it, it gives specific directions for recreational flat towing the hybrid.

Yep, and this is one of the main reasons I ordered a Maverick.

Hi, i can send pics this weekend. I did not do the install. the brake cable goes from the brake cable thru an existing hole in the firewall directly in front of it. I will have to see how it is routed. I also had a brake away cable installed, it is hard to see as i folded it back, but it's red on the right side of the pic.

The main reason I started focusing on Maverick was the flat towing capability. After a little studying I decided I liked it for lots of reasons including I can load and carry our ebikes much easier than putting them on a bike rack plus the rig weighs much less than the Wrangler I had.

Hello Low-ball,
I have the Roadmaster base plates with the old brake buddy brake system installed on my XL Hybrid. There is a rubber grommet on the firewall, drivers side which is easily removed and can easily be modified with a hole to slip in a wire or cable if needed.

Has anyone installed the Blue Ox baseplate? If so, did you tackle it yourself or have it done?

Who did the install? I did it on my 2016 Cherokee that will be replaced by the Lariat but this one seems a lot more involved or intimidating or maybe it’s because I’m 6 years older?

Discount Hitch #3 Grapevine Texas; 6 years ago I would have laid on my back and tried it myself, but a lot easier when you can stand up to access with a rack.
