Anybody else hoping their current vehicle lasts until your Maverick arrives?

Are you limping your car along to the finish line?

Wife and I only have one car so we're keeping it with the Mav.
Wife and I are also sharing her 2009 CR-V until my Hybrid Maverick (build date 11/15) gets delivered in early January 2022.

My wife is still working until the end of 2021 but works remotely from home. I am already retired so sharing her CR-V for about 2.5 months won't be an issue for us.

I just sold my 2015 Honda Fit Ex with 43,800 miles on it to Carvana for $16,523 two days ago. The offer was $4,083 better than trading it in to the dealership (even considering the sales tax savings) where I ordered my Maverick.

Since I have a signed "Buyers Order" and a build date of 11/15 we felt selling the Fit now and sharing one vehicle was the right thing to do as we don't have to worry about anything happening to it or if the valuation quote would drop as it did over the summer. We also are saving on insurance.

Dang, I wish I had kept a diary. You reminded me of a divorced bicycle rider I knew who always rode everywhere except to jog. Once a year he would air up the tires (sometimes would have to take them one at time in his bicycle trailer to air them up) on his ancient Carmen gia which he had painted with a foam paint brush to go on vacation. He would renew his car tag and buy insurance, which he would cancel a few days after he got back home. He would put the car on blocks in his garage so they would be easier to take off the next time. I am glad you enjoy your life style and your family, but remembered this when you said you walked to work and rode a bike.
I've lived about half of my life adult life without regular access to a car. I did something similar to your friend, I parked my truck in my garage when I lived in Houston and didn't drive it at all for 2yrs except 2 or 3 times to go to the airport. I have a 37yr old sister who has lived all over the world (LA, Providence RI, London, Italy, NYC, Salt Lake City, now Seattle) and never had a car until last year. Telling you, it's refreshing not being dependent on a vehicle (in 5yrs of sharing a single car, wife and I have needed another one zero times), but it does take some planning (we bought our home in a specific area that was ideally located to walk/bike most places) and I understand it's not for everybody.

We are awaiting delivery of 2 long-range e-bikes in November, so we'll probably be driving even less. We pretty much ordered the Maverick because it checked all the boxes like nothing else on the market, at some point we'll need to replace our current car, and you can't beat the deal.

Eight days ago I was shopping for a used pickup truck. My 2001 Ranger failed inspection (frame dissolving from years on the Maine roads) and I was trying to find a suitable replacement at a reasonable price. On a whim, I switched over to new vehicles at the closest Ford dealership. Best whim of the year! Now I have to cultivate the fine art of patience. And only drive to the gas station and the dump.

Too much time on my hands -- went back to the Ford build page and decided that the basic XL was lacking. Jumped up to the XLT for the extras. Velocity Blue w/CoPilot360. And so it begins...

Filler post I know, but I was curious to see if anybody else was like me. I have a 2010 Focus with 155,000 miles on her and while she still performs, she is aging horribly. Between the suspension replacement and the subsequent re-boring of the front steering knuckles, i'm in more on this car than I will probably get for my trade in. I'm just hoping I can limp her along until I get my Mav.

So my question is, what are you driving and are you going to make it to your Maverick?
Luckily you got the older model Focus. I was hoping to make it, but now my 2012 Focus is waiting for a Transmission Control Module (TCM) which is backordered. This combined with the CVT is what made these model years so unreliable. Apparently 41,000 people are also waiting for this part. The good news is it is covered under Ford Customer Satisfaction program, which functions like an extended warranty. But got a loaner/rental Fiesta until it comes in which could be months going by how long others have been waiting. I was hoping Ford would realize this is costing them money to pay the dealer for the rental and bump up my Maverick priority to a get a build sooner :)

I'm going to make it. I was just hoping to maximize the trade-in value during peak used cars. Every month is another 1,500 miles added.

I am keeping my 2006 Element running and crossing my fingers I get picked today for a build date. I ordered it 6/19 XLT,Lux,360 rear window. Last week looked like they were going after June builds and I hope the same for this week. I was driving the car for work last week and I made a pit stop at my house. I smelled anti freeze really bad and thought "someone has a bad leak". I looked back at my car and AF was just gushing out all over the place. I opened the hood to find that the clamp on the lower radiator hose had rusted out to the point that it was just hanging there. Lucky I was at home and I have tools and parts and Anti freeze. I put a new hose clamp on it and new Anti Freeze and was back on the road (after a shower and a sandwich) in 2 hours. Fast forward to yesterday. I was sitting at a light and someone rear ended me :( Luckily the only damage was a pushed in bumper and the bumper cover is damaged. I can not open my tailgate. He had insurance, and now get to deal with the Little Green Gecko to get paid for the damage. I think I will try to fix it myself and take the insurance money to get a tonneau cover for my maverick (Ignore the post I made about the Poor Mans Tonneau cover:)) so now I wait and hope today is the day!

welcome, are you looking to buy an EcoBoost or hybrid? Your wait won’tbe to bad for the EcoBoost

Ordered my Velocity Blue XL the same day I discovered that Ford is making the Maverick hybrid, a week ago yesterday. I wasn't looking to buy a new pickup, having bought a new Sonata hybrid a year ago, but when I told my wife about the Maverick, she said to take the checkbook and order the blue one. I think we're good to go.

I am in a 2010 Dodge Caravan. The van runs ok overall, but I just spent $1,800 on radiator, pipes, breaks and rotors. So I'd like to get out of it before it costs me any more money.

My 180k 2005 Forester should hold up mechanically until the Maverick arrives. Only issue is I have a build date of 11/22 and the registration on the Subaru expires at the end of November. I don't want to pay for the registration on a vehicle that I won't be keeping for more than about a month.

Possibly will sell the Subaru once the Maverick goes into production and just use my motorcycle for transportation until the truck arrives. December in North Texas may be an issue though.

I'm buying the Maverick XLT hybrid to replace my wife's 1999 Ford Windstar which is my Home Depot/Lowes, kayaking vehicle :) Windstar is still running ok but getting a little crusty! My everday car is a Honda HRV. It pained me to buy it instead of an Escape but it was just more vehicle for the money with better features in my opinion. I'm a life long Ford guy!

We are buying two hybrid XLT LUX and do not have to buy anything to get by as my 2012 Honda CR-V will probably go another 126k miles. Had a case of "Why Not" since my "Drink Water Fund" had built up way more cash after 41+ years than 2 XLT's would cost. "DWF" is almost always drinking water instead of soda, coffee, etc when eating out (not stiffing waitress for discounted portion of check), putting price of separate drink when buying combo meals, etc into fund. Biggest winner was 50 sh Tesla at 22.31 each, after 5:1 split "DWF" is pretty fat now so I am going to spring for the 0%36month deal.

Just buckle up for a long wait on the Hybrid. Realistically could be 6 plus months.
