There are options that are not mentioned on the Ford Build and Price site. The FX4 package for example. I appreciate your concern but I do know what I’m doing. This isn’t the first time I’ve ordered a new car to spec.

The full size spare isn’t available on the AWD FX4 Lariat Lux package so I don’t know how you could add it.

Since you can't build and price the Santa Cruz yet, here is a link to a local dealer that has 4 showing in transit - various trims, if you click into the listings you can view the window stickers:

Is yours AWD? I think that is what makes it noavailable.

It is! FX4 requires AWD. Here is my build sheet. The FS spare was added a couple weeks after I ordered once I realized it wasn't included (some of the build/price language is not clear!)

Back to the topic at hand. There are 9 Santa Cruz showing for sale in the Twin Cities area. Kind of sad to see they aren't spoken for, or going to retail orders. It seems like there either isn't as much interest, or they just aren't taking the allocation approach for customers that have placed an order for one.

If my memory serves I think when I added the Lariat Luxury package, I got a pop up that said the full size spare had to be removed. I’m old so memory doesn’t always serve. 😁

There were 5 or 6 my Hyundai dealer showed in his new car inventory here in Everett , WA. He said Hyundai put them there because they are on order for that dealership. All of them were sold before they got them. They did have the Mulroney sticker so I could get an idea of price. There was 1 loaded Limited. I like how Ford is upfront with pricing unlike the Santa Cruz. My dealer confirmed they sell at MSRP with no add insult except T&L. He is expecting more in 2 weeks but has no idea how equipped they will be.

I was just peeking over on the Santa Cruz forums - apparently their reservation process is kind of meaningless, that they don't get assigned a build/VIN like we do from Ford and are basically at the mercy of the general hyundai-dealer distribution of inventory - yikes! Ford might not get things perfect, but the process we have been through so far seems to be much more favorable to the buying experience.

Sorry, but that is just one ugly vehicle and while it has some nice features overall, zero interest for me. I would NEVER consider this over a Maverick under any circumstance. Might as well wait on the Chevy Montana. LOL

The reservation process was the same-- mostly meaningless, except we had to pay $100 with hyundai. The difference is ford followed with an actual order process, which hyundai didn't do. Seems like they just took the reservations and used the data from what types people ordered to dictate how they would manufacture. Then (at least in my case), they called people with reservations and said "the SC are coming! Do you want to put an additional refundable $x down to secure one of the units we've got en route?" Bunch of nonsense.

I don't care for the looks of the Santa Cruz and the bed is 6 inches shorter and cannot handle 4 x 8 sheets of plywood like the Maverick. No brainer for me...Go Maverick!
You could buy a ford ranger 4x4 crew cab for $33k and get the same mpg.
It all depends on what you are looking for. The Santa Cruz and Mav gas engine trims have 2" more rear leg room than a Ranger.

If you need higher towing, the Ranger is probably the better option. If you need something smaller and with more rear passenger space, the SC and Mav are better options at that price point.

I'm curious how you ended up at $41,100 for a loaded lariat as described? are these out the door prices? I put in all those options, plus FS spare, hard roll-up tonneau and moonroof and it is about $38K in the build and price?
I figured it out, if you literally check every single option on the Ford site, you can make it hit $41K. You have to also add the somewhat redundant tow package, and then tick every single box going down like splash guards, bed divider kit, hard trifold, bed lighting kit (even though you get bed lighting w/ luxury package), hard trifold, bedmat, bed extender, air deflectors, cargo net, wheel locks, crossbars, roadside assistance kit, floor liners, console vault, etc. It can be done, but I wouldn't.

Same here. Wrote it off the 1st time I saw show models. It's either Maverick or nothing for now for me (F-150 available as needed) and my actual buying timeline is into early 2022- so I can even wait for new Ranger reveal or snap up 1 of the low miles Mavericks that people here ordered - but rejected upon arrival and test drive ;)

Have you checked their door jamb stickers? Hyundai never announced GAWR or GCWR of the SC. I am a little curious about those numbers🤔🤔 but not curious enough to visit a Hyundai showroom personally.

BTW, there is one thing Hyundai has done better - supply chain and production line management. I hope to see 5 or 6 Mavs in my dealer's lots, even if they are not mine. I think it can explain why Mav has limited interior color options or things like that. They need to focus on what they can do to make the Mav come true as a leader in this segment.
