I'm not sure you've got that quite right. The Santa Cruz was announced on April 15th, and they are now hitting dealers just shy of 4 months later. The Maverick was announced June 8th, builds are starting in September and will likely hit dealers the beginning of October. Same timeline, approximately 4 months later.Have you checked their door jamb stickers? Hyundai never announced GAWR or GCWR of the SC. I am a little curious about those numbersbut not curious enough to visit a Hyundai showroom personally.
BTW, there is one thing Hyundai has done better - supply chain and production line management. I hope to see 5 or 6 Mavs in my dealer's lots, even if they are not mine. I think it can explain why Mav has limited interior color options or things like that. They need to focus on what they can do to make the Mav come true as a leader in this segment.
Perhaps the Santa Cruz hitting dealer lots might be spoken for? I already see 9 listed on dealer sites in the Twin Cities, and have read their reservations weren't anything like the Maverick reservation-to-order process. I do not expect my Maverick will be listed as available to buy on my dealer's inventory/web advertising. I've also read some comments about dealers saying the ones they have received are not spoken for. Contrast that with the Maverick, which has several months (minimum) of paying buyers waiting for builds.
