Was getting my tires switched over from winter to all season and was offered the chance to get my oil changed (current mileage 5400km). I would normally wait for the 8,000km mark but had read a lot of conflicting posts on when to do the initial change from the break in period. With some posts saying murky oil with debris from assembly.

The dealership offered to do the tire swap as part of the oil change, pay for the oil change and they did the switch over for free. Good deal as it saved me $70 + tax.

I had them show me the oil Which came out and it looked like normal engine oil, no particles or dirt that the mechanic could see. Based on this I have zero problem with going 8-10,000 km between oil changes.

Others may find different results but that was my experience today. I am loving my small pick-up and even with the cold winter I have average 6.2L/100km since purchase. (37.9mpg). with the best tank giving 5.1l/100km (46.1mpg). Interesting to see what happens now that we are finally getting some warmer weather and for the hot summer while towing.

Since you have 25MY - you can see exactly how many miles are on the engine compared to EV mode.
So indeed can be easily reassuring to follow the OLM system to probably higher mileage.
It knows how severe the heat and towing are - so in that case you may not get as many miles.

agreed I am expecting that the mileage will change quite a bit, but it will still be way better than the RAV4 that I got rid of when I purchased the Maverick. I am really looking forward to late June when I get on the road with my Trailer. I will post an update after my first month long road trip and see how the Maveric performs , especially the way gas prices are going.

"With some posts saying murky oil with debris from assembly." Old wives' tale. The Oil will NEVER be murky or have particles in these modern engines. OF COURSE it had no particles or dirt....don't fool yourself. This is NOT your father's Oldsmobile. This is a 2025 Maverick. Relax....your oil will be fine when you change it every 10,000 miles......:clap::clap:

My father had a Buick! 😎
Since 2018 or so I have found myself in the change oil once a year category. My vehicles are getting 5,000 miles a year or less, since we are no longer driving from Mississippi to Texas several times a year to care for elderly parents. So, how many miles between oil changes is 12 months.

Of course the 2.5 Atkinson engine in the Hybrid and the Turbo 2.0 in the EB are different beasts with different oil change requirements.

10,000 mile oil change intervals would destroy the EB by the 6th oil change….

Always strikes me weird when I hear, "the oil is fine I didn't see particles". We're talking parts per million as far as contaminants go. I agree that seeing very old oil is easy to spot and large chunks would be seen but there's more to it than that. A lot of info on the web but for me it comes down to oil changes are cheap, engines are expensive. I start planning oil changes at the 50% mark to what the manufacturer recommends. Some may think that's unnecessary and that's fine.

You also have the ability to see exactly how many engine miles you got, compared to EV miles.

Incase you have a favorite limit.

Just keep a trip A or B for tracking that interval.

I won't be shocked if you follow 5K engine, and discover you are very close to the OLM anyway.

No way is the 5k engine on the Hybrid going to be close to what the OLM tells you to change it. My OLM on my truck told me 9k, 10k, 10k and that’s where I sit. 29,000 with three oil changes. Trust me, I guarantee you you will never have to change the oil on this hybrid more than that. Particles this… neighbors neighbors grandpa told me this…. a lot of it is just bullshit. What I don’t agree with is the increased prices on batteries ….holy crap. Bought a golf cart battery the other day $180. At least I got 30 back with the core exchange but still a golf cart!!!

Both mine at around 10k miles had 5500 to 6000 on the ICE.

I would have been about 10 to 5% on the OLM.
Can't say exactly, because I don't get the Lariat or 25/26 benefit of it tracking total/EV miles for display.
But I spent a year tracking my common drives and the per trip reported total/EV miles.

Really depends on how well you are doing.
Of course I'm assuming someone bought the hybrid because of an actual benefit to it - and not a straight highway driver with a mis-purchase.

From the internet: "Honda has faced significant, ongoing issues regarding engine oil contamination—specifically oil dilution from fuel in 1.5L turbocharged engines (2016-2022 Civic, Accord, CR-V) and separate oil contamination from manufacturing debris in V6 engines (2015-2020 Acura/Honda models)". My son's 2022 Accord was given an extra years warranty and he has trouble with the car - noisy engine. The fuel in the engine was caused by faulty programming causing the injectors to dump more fuel than the engine could deal with. The fuel leaked past the piston rings. A cracked head or leaking head gasket can cause the oil to look like milk. Ford has a caveat about "severe conditions", define "severe". To each, their own.

What process is Ford using in modern engine plants that leaves them so much cleaner from the machining processes that they weren't using in the past, and that other manufacturers aren't using?

Even today, GM is recalling thousands of 6.2L engines due in part to damage resulting from machining swarf, so clearly its is possible whether you believe it can NEVER happen, "wives tale" or not.

I don't buy new vehicles very often and my auto mechanics education is old school but...

I like to get the first oil change after about 1,000 miles. The idea is that the break in miles produce the most metal bits and by changing the oil early removes most of those bits. If I'm right, I spent a little money to extend the life of my car. Note: I tend to keep cars for about 13+ years. If I'm wrong, I spent a little money to change my oil early. Since I do my own oil changes, my cost for material is about $42 and that's a cheap investment to possibly extend the life of my engine.

After the first oil change, I go by the vehicles recommendation.
