I meant to do this at the dealer yesterday when I picked up the truck but it was a downpour at the time so I just drove home and parked it. Just got off work and went out to take care of priority #1, preserve that battery... Pull the F11 fuse. It is F11-F12 in the same slot and 12 is not used, it is a 5amp fuse. The fuse box is mounted sideways from the image I found online for it.

I'm really surprised that Ford has left this a separate circuit so easy to disable. When I did that on my '24 eighteen months ago, many folks here didn't really think it had much to do with battery preservation, just big brother and all the other invasion of info. I did it for both reasons, even if there were no battery problems, I can do without Ford Pass.

My last GM product they also had the telematics/Onstar fuse on a separate easily disabled slot as well. Worked very well to end the power drain there also. Same here I will do without Fordpass. My Tesla on the other hand you couldn't do anything about it so I kept it plugged in at all times. Talk about one vehicle I don't miss! ROFL

I had fun getting a view of that thing. Phone has a flash light on it, but won't let you keep the light on and use the camera. The camera refused to flash so I couldn't see it. So I was trying to hold a small flashlight and the phone zoomed in to be able to see the slots and the numbers to get a picture of it so I could get a good look. That is kind of a pain in the backside. But it has been removed. Thanks for the pics confirming I didn't pull the wrong one.

Lol so taking the fuse out in 23 hybrid won't hurt anything? I stopped using Ford pass after day one.

How much of a drain is it? I have had my 2024 Hybrid for 16 Months and have not noticed any issues related to the battery.

Thanks for the reminder, 24hrsun. Did this on our 2022 Mav hybrid but forgot to do the same with our newer one.

This is one of those "it depends" kind of things. When the vehicle is sitting parked for extended periods of time everything is supposed to shut down and go into a sleep mode and not use power. Only to be woken up by activity. One of those activities is the phone app. Another can be the mothership pinging, pulling data, or updates. I don't think anyone is certain exactly what activities are that are creating this problem. I know with other vehicles I have owned it has been eventually traced back to poorly coded apps constantly waking up the vehicle. If you live in a poor cellular coverage area this too can cause the vehicle to keep trying to reach a network. In my case the building is metal where the truck is kept and there is no cell signal in there. So I know it is one of the possible contributors to this behavior.

So the long story short is no one knows for sure what is triggering the drain issues. The list is long what it could be, but it has not been sorted out. So my work around to avoid one of the possible issues is to just pull the F11 so that my truck doesn't have any external factors waking it up and sucking the 12v to death over time. If you are driving your truck daily then likely the 12v is getting a charge frequently enough you may not see the issue. For those that don't drive as much or infrequent then it is more likely to affect those batteries. Once the vehicle is "awake" the drain can be significant and takes a while before it goes back into hibernation. The cellular modem itself doesn't draw a huge amount of power by itself. Just one of the side effects of everything connected and online 24/7/365 that hasn't been sorted out would be the guess.
