Oh Lord, what a timely discovery. I have to admit I chuckled, having received the recall letter about engine failure and fire.

So we finally figured out what Ford designed this space for!!!!!! :ROFLMAO: Noticed you have a hybrid. Wonder it this will just fit in Hybrids and not EBs because of greater chance of a fire than in an EB?????? Just saying...:):giggle: Good info either way!
Hey, don't feel left out. That space is probably big enough for a few spare turbos for you ecoboost guys 😉. Ford didn't forget about ya.

First of all, this is not an endorsement for the quality or effectiveness of the this extinguisher brand ( AmzBoom model MSJ900, $30 on Amazon). I have not personally tested it although I am tempted. I just happened to find that it fits tightly in the bottle compartment of the rear door, in this case the driver's side. You do have to slightly force it behind the handle but that's what makes it a nice fit. There is just enough flex for it to pop in, and it easily pulls out. But it's not going anywhere until it's needed. I would like to say I did a bunch of research and took measurements and so forth, but the truth is it's pure happenstance that it stores in the door that well. It comes with a yellow plastic mount but you won't need it in this case. If I find that it rattles at all I plan to stick a small piece of foam or whatever in there so that won't be a problem. I always carry an extensive first aid kit, a Gooloo jump starter, an impact wrench with sockets and an air compressor that runs just fine off the inverter, and a tire plug kit. So I was thinking, what am I missing? Oh yeah one of these. So if anyone is considering carrying one in your Mav, I thought I would share.

That is a fantastic idea....!!!

You can use it when you drive past the next flaming EV on motorway ;-)

I never thought to post this. But I did the same thing. Grabbed on from auto zone, looking to mount near driver then saw that it fit here.

What about people who don't drive a Maverick?

Since this is a Maverick Truck Club forum, I didn't see the need to include or specifically exclude those who don't drive or own a Maverick. Gasoline is volatile and lithium batteries do catch fire so it would be a good idea for everyone to carry the proper fire extinguisher in their vehicle.

I have a Halon that came out of the airplane I used to own. Fit's in the door perfectly.
