There's a station near me that has 93 non-ethanol. I normally run it in my dirt bike. Might give it a shot in the Mav to see if I can tell a difference. It's $$$ here though!
My fuel prices I stated in the first post fluctuates oddly.
If the ethanol flavors go up 10% the Non Ethanol goes up 15-20%
93 octane real gasoline is normally $4 a gallon here.
It’s BP so not top tier fuel.

I paid $3.54 a gallon.
My regular is running $2.64
And my Ethanol premium is $3.39 a gallon.

Penny for your thoughts ?
Math says: (3.54-2.64)/2.64 = 34% increased cost for 2-3% increase in MPG.
Does not compute.
Keep the penny.

My 2024 Ecoboost runs the same on regular and premium. I see a small average mpg gain, say 2 or 3 % with premium and that’s a maybe.
No noticeable power difference but I don’t drive it in the upper third of the power band, ever.
I never go over 5,000 rpm.
Except for the time I forgot I had it in low. I hit 5,400 before I noticed it.
:’P

Any way, for chits and giggles I put on a fuel load of what I like to call
Real Gasoline.
NON Ethanol 93 octane.

My Mav is just bit different.

I’m not going to say how. I’m looking for other peoples input, thoughts, opinions and results.

I've tried using 93 octane a few times instead of 87 octane as well and didn't notice any difference. I'll only use it if towing a long distance.

I was talking about NON ethanol not ethanol premium.
wanted to verify that.

I'm sure someone will disagree, but unless something has changed, higher octane has more knock reducing additives which actually reduces the available combustion power. The fuel mileage should go down with higher octane. At the lower octane end of the curve there's a point where the engine runs less efficiently due to reduced timing if the engine is put in a load situation where that occurs. Without actually testing it, peak performance for both power & MPG should be 91 octane, hopefully top tier to get the proper amount of cleaning additives.

No.

Regardless of octane level, straight gasoline will have about the same energy density. Higher octane only means that it's more resistant to preignition

Well now, says you.

If you substitute 1.2 ounces per gallon of gasoline with "detergents" you have reduced your energy content and MPG by 1%.

I don't know how many ounces of additives go into a gallon. But it is greater than 0% and may be as high as 5%.

But I hear what you are saying.
Octane rating is a behavior. Not an ingredient.

In the 2022 Maverick Brochure from Ford it says the the 250 HP and 277 lb.ft of Torque Rating on the 2.0 Eco Boost is with using Premium Fuel Like you mentioned. And i'm guessing that's on 91 Octane Premium like you mention as all States IIRC don't have 93 Octane Premium like here in Northeast,Ohio.

The ecoboost has the ability to auto adjust to the ethanol or lack of it. I learned this from ZFG racing on my explorer ST. Everyone was mixing 93 and e85 for more power. There was a limit to what it could adjust to though.

I remember a similar process mixing high test unleaded with leaded regular to get higher octane in the early 80's

All I can observe is I’m getting two more miles per gallon running real gas,
93 octane NON ethanol.
But then again could it be the summer mix ? Is it out yet ?
As long as my Non ethanol holds at $3.50 a gallon I’ll burn it.
That measly 2.0 mpg does not offset the cost per gallon but if Pepper likes it that much,
Well I’ll do anything for my girl ~
Cheezy, I know I know. :’P
