Thanks for posting this, ours has been doing this as well but it has been very subtle - just enough to catch my attention and make me wonder if its the wind or if I'm just losing my mind!

I kept pointing it out to my wife and she thought I was crazy. It got bad enough one time that she actually noticed lol

Try a tank of high octane and see if the lurching goes away or is reduced. I haven't noticed it since I started using 91 octane when someone said it helped.
I have a tank of 91 in mine now, 'cause QT was out of 87 and 89. She still jiggles and surges away until the needle comes up from "C" a bit.

I mean it is programming / control related, but software can only do so much. It's pretty good but not perfect is what I'm saying.
Yup. It's almost certainly just the software not quite dealing with the colder temperature right. To stay stationary while the ICE is running, the smaller electric motor* has to turn the outer gear of the planetary gearset at exactly the right speed to counter the ICE's rotation. If the calculation is off a bit, the lurching is what happens, and the cold engine makes that calc harder.
Won't hurt anything, as the lurching is far less intense than normal acceleration with the ICE which uses the same parts.

*(there are two electric motors in the Maverick, one for drive and a much smaller one to control the (virtual) "gear ratio")

22 hybrid w/ 25k miles. The last ~6 months or so, when the engine first starts up in the morning and I am stopped at a red light, the vehicle will feel like it is lurching back and forth, rocking the whole car. I have brought the vehicle to the dealer but they never find any codes and the vehicle only does it in the morning at first start. After that, it will not do it until it has cooled down again.

Has anyone experienced this before? If so, what caused it?
Completely normal for the Maverick hybrid. Goes away at the next stop.

My 24' hybrid also does this, but it was reassuring to read on this forum that it's just a minor annoyance and normal.

Just figured the hybrid powertrain was a little less refined overall than the Toyota system, but on the same token, it seems to be smoother (with a much more powerful electric motor) than my Prius C was switching from electric to ICE and vice-versa at speed.

Kind of.

But don't over think this either.

When the wheels are stationary, the traction motor is stationary, and if the engine is spinning, then the generator is spinning, being spun by the engine.

The system can put a load/amp draw on the generator, and make wattage to recharge the HV battery.

Or, if the HV battery is "full"... the load/amp draw can go to zero, and the generator can "freewheel".

Power can be applied to the generator to either speed up or slow down the engine RPM while the vehicle is in motion to change the effective gear ratio between the engine and wheels. But I see no practical reason to do this while standing still.

Bought my hybrid Lariat down in FL and drove it up to Ohio for the holidays and encountered this problem very consistently. Temps were in the 20s and 30s most of the trip which seemed to make it worse. Mine continues to lurch and the transmission sounds like it's almost constantly grinding whenever the vehicle is stopped and in drive. Putting in reverse or neutral does nothing, and park seems to actually disengage whatever's going on. The grinding noise/feeling/lurching doesn't make me feel great about longevity. Hope someone has some luck with a fix

I have the same symptoms on my 2022 XL Hybrid. seems like when the car is cold and is in fast idle it lurches at the first few stops until it warms up. I have 38K on my vehicle

Your description sounds like it could be the damper between the engine and tranny?
