Yeah, I was one of those people that was super annoyed at this happening to me. Ready to go to the dealer and complain, I think I even posted a thread here. Then people pointed out what was happening. I felt like an idiot for sure. But "magically" it's never happened since, now that I'm aware of it. I even asked the Ford tech that came out to do a software update about it. She laughed and said that quite a few people have come into the dealer with that problem and it's always people accidentally hitting the lever.
Yep, you posted in a thread back in June.

It was happening to me a lot, to the point I was going to take it to the dealer, then I read the threads about inadvertently locking it with your hand. Now that I'm aware, it hasn't happened again.
June 3rd 2024 you were responding to

This happens to me all the time and no... I'm not hitting the lock when I open the door. I've checked many times. And of course my dealer couldn't replicate it, so...

Hey BadAl ….the only problem with your statement is that it DOES happen to him….along with many others. We all accidentally lock the door with our hand occasionally. 😂😂😂🥴🥴🥴
No, i didn’t lock it. It locked itself.

Ah yes… the great “auto-locking” door debate continues. We all have our thoughts on the debate… and yes, we are all correct. Sorry, had to chime in.

It's a damn shame. nobody can honestly replicate it happening. Not even Ford.

So you know the sound of the fob lock when standing outside and all the doors lock from pressing Lock button.

Is that what you heard after you got out and walked away?

Fob in hand or key in truck ignition?
Truck running or not?

Luxury package on your XLT with keyless entry/push button start?

You call me a liar and want me to provide video proof? Just because it doesn’t happen to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. SMH
Well, you have to admit that it's a lot easier to provide video proof of it happening than it is for us to provide video proof that it doesn't. ;)

Perchance have you noticed any battery saver changes kicking in - like inside lights turn off quicker when door closes.

You have keyless entry on Lariat, correct?

Do you touch the door handle when closing door?

USING KEYLESS ENTRY

Unlocking the Doors
Ford Maverick Driver's door locking on its own VID20240807094852

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle for a brief period and then pull on the door handle to unlock, being careful not to touch the lock sensor at the same time or pull on the door handle too quickly. The intelligent access system requires a brief delay to authenticate your intelligent access key.
Locking the Doors
Ford Maverick Driver's door locking on its own VID20240807094852

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the outer door handle lock sensor for approximately one second to lock, being careful not to touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle at the same time. After locking, you can immediately pull on the door handle to confirm locking occurred without inadvertently unlocking.

My truck will lock the doors on its own with key fob in the truck. its not soppoised to do this, anyone know what to do about this ??
Have you found a place in the manual where it says it's not supposed to do that?

And you have confirmed you aren't accidentally hitting the lock area on the handle?

Because what's been found with just the 25MY with keyless entry - it appears that if you purposely leave the fob in the truck, it fail safe locks the truck for you after some timeout.

Question - do you have Fordpass app remote access working?

I'm starting to wonder if the truck sees it could report up the final status upon park and turn off, and the remote access has been enabled successfully - then it will lock the truck to protect a forgetful driver. Which would be smart if it works correctly.

Prior MY's with non-keyless entry, and key in ignition, if you purposely pushed the lock lever (not lock button, that won't work) - it considered that an intentional action and you could lock keys in car.
I'm wondering if purposely hitting the handle lock area is seen the same way on keyless entry systems.

Mine has never done that. But in case I somehow ever manage to lock the key in it, I have this hidden on my truck:
Ford Maverick Driver's door locking on its own Metal-Key

When I had the local locksmith cut my spare fob key (eBay), she cut this test key first, to make sure she could successfully cut the key on the fob. She just gave it to me, no charge, as she had no use for it after testing her cutting machine. Of course, it only opens the doors & tailgate. Won't start the truck.

Maybe this??
Ford Maverick Driver's door locking on its own {filename}

Unless somebody can post a honest video showing that it auto locks by itself. I have to believe it's driver error.
If you have or can make a video showing the Maverick Auto locking with the fob inside please post it.
Oh please, we don't have to prove anything to you -- it's happened to me too. Just yesterday again. The fact it is happening to many of us tells you something. It's happened to me 3 times in the last month.... And never once in the previous 2 years I've had the vehicle.

As it says it seems to be an ongoing issue. All the other doors don't lock just the drivers. This morning I drove to the lumber yard, grabbed my keys to unlock and turn on the lights. Maybe 3-4 minutes total and the drivers door was locked when i came back out???? THe dealer has no clue.
It's pretty easy to hit the lock button when you grab the lever. I do it once in awhile then I go and unlock thru the back door.

There’s enough pages and info here on this topic alone that I’m kinda thinking of writing a book on it! Possibly a best seller, 🤣
