I have an annoying issue with my Maverick and I'm not sure whether I have a glitch or this is a design feature:

If I leave my keys in the ignition (which I often do for brief periods around jobsites), the doors seem to lock automatically after a short while. Fortunately I had programmed a code I can remember into the keypad.
Has anyone else experienced this?
It is very annoying and any help with disabling this would be much appreciated!

I had my driver door lock on me yesterday while getting gas. Key in the ignition with the truck turned off, phone in the truck. Lucky the other three doors were unlocked!

Not sure if I hit the lock button on the drivers door but sure caused some stress for a minute or two!
I had the same problem. Luckily I tried the rear door on the driver side and it opened. I was sweating it for a moment.

Yup, it continues to happen to me, but very infrequently. As I said in my later posts, I'm convinced it's a design issue, in that the lock is too close to the handle. You wind up locking it accidentally when pushing the door open.

What I like you can lock or unlock truck from anyplace. I was at the ranch which is 20 plus miles away and she could lock and unlock my XL.
I can say we have an escape and if you leave fob inside it will lock now.

This is a situation where only the driver's door locks, the other three remain unlocked.

Not quite: I have an XLT, no start button, have to put the key in the ignition like in the good 'ol days. Fob is hanging on the key. If i leave the key in the ignition (with the fob), the doors lock themselves, essentially locking you out. I know the keypad code, but someone else using it won't.
I have the XL, no key pad. It happened to me the other day. Luckily I was at home and my wife had the other key.

You need to read my later posts, it explains it all. Your other three doors were still unlocked. It's a design issue: the lock button is too close to the door handle. When opening and pushing the door open with the same hand (usually when in a rush), you wind up inadvertantly locking the driver's door.

Sounds like you're talking about the door lock lever that's above the inside door handle.

Not the power door lock button which would lock all four doors if pushed.

(Reposting this here as it's more appropriate than the thread I originally left this on)

I recently purchased a 2024 Maverick XLT with the luxury package.
So far (I've only driven a couple of hundred miles) I'm very happy with it, except for one thing:

When I do errands, my disabled wife stays in the car and listens to the radio. The key is left in the ignition in the accessory position but the engine is not running. When I leave the car, I've checked and all doors, including the rear bed, are unlocked. When I return, all doors including the bed are locked. In order for me to get in, my wife has to unlock the doors. While this hasn't been a problem, I'm concerned about this behavior and want to better understand it and see if I can eliminate this auto locking.

Here are some other observations:

1) I live in a rural area of Maine and don't lock my truck in the driveway, but do always take my keys. In this situation, the truck never autolocks and is unlocked whenever I come back.

2) The car AutoLocks, as documented, when I reach a speed of about 15mpg

3) For some reason, Ford removed the combo lock in the 2024 model and my truck is always in battery saver mode as I don't drive it very much, so the Ford Connect app connot be used to open the doors.

4) As mentioned, all doors are initially unlocked when I leave the care with the key in the ignition (not running), but are all locked when I return in half our or so.

As I'm not sure if keeping the key in the ignition will at some point autolock with nobody in the passenger seat and how long the time delay is for this to happen (could I get locked out in the winter scrapaing ice of my windshield?), I've purchased a spare key (no chip) from these folks: https://fasterautokeys.com/collections/ford and will put it in a magnetic case underneath for emergencies, but I'd really like to be able to disable this undesirable autolocking behavior. I called the dealer and they weren't familiar with it and said they'd take a look at it the next time I'm in for service, but I'm hoping someone here might be able to tell me more about this. Again, it's a 2024 XLT with the luxury package.

Please not: this is not a fat-finger operator issue. The doors are definitely all unlocked when I leave the car (I've checked this repeatedly and am very carefull to check that the manual lock lever is in the unlocked position), but are all (not just driver door) locked when I return. Wondering if this is a 2024 'enhancement' along with removal of the combo keypad (and no, I don't want to get a battery operated combo which is bound to run out of battery charge just when I need it).

Help?

Okay, so I recently experienced the "nightmare scenario" with my 2024 Maverick XL. I went to my storage facility and as usual I left the key in the ignition with the vehicle in park and the engine running while I input the code to unlock the storage facility gate. Well the door to the truck closed, the doors locked, all of the doors. I was literally 15 miles from where I live, I had no extra key, etc. I flagged down 2 drivers both were helpful. The first let me use his phone as mine was locked in the vehicle. I called AAA, they didn't do anything even though they said they would call right back. The guy eventually had to leave. The second guy actually drove me back to my house. I got the spare fob and unlocked the still running truck. What the hell is going on. I never locked the doors, etc. I also have recreated the thing at home where again all the doors lock. Sounds like some weird anti-theft safety thing which as usual is crap.

This is exactly the scenario I’m most worried about and why I will be hiding a spare key which can unlock but not start truck. IMHO needs to address this ASAP.
