Does Maverick have auto start stop? Disable possible?

I've never had a vehicle with auto stop but it must be annoying as everyone wants to disable it. I am awaiting my hybrid so I obviously want the engine off as much as possible. I'm curious how much the average gas mileage drops by disengaging this feature on the EB. Hypothetically, would you be willing to trade 2-3 mpg to have this feature turned off?

It may not bother some people but I've already had two times where I'm trying to turn and there is on coming traffic and it does not turn on fast enough to make me feel safe. Not to mention when it starts at a light it has a lot more shudder than when you start in the driveway, I just don't like it. Yes I can press the button every time but I'd rather not do that for the next 10 years, not to mention that buttons fail with a lot of use.

I use one from a different company on my wife's Jeep and that web site says that it is illegal to use one in the state of California. So, you blokes from the left coast may want to look into that before ordering if you care about that aspect of it. Of course can always remove it before inspection time.

Has anyone tried to use forscan to turn it off ? I used that on my raptor and You don’t have to push that button every time you get in the car anymore.

There will probably be a defeat device for the Ecoboost engine released so you don't have to turn it off every time you start the truck

Fact there is one available by auto stop eliminator for a $100 or you could just unplug the plug on the negative side of your battery terminal and it will disable auto start stop the only problem is you will get an error light on your dash, If you can live with it you won't have the auto start stop and when you need your safety check just plug it back in

My bigger concern is wear and tear on the engine and starter motor over the years. But it is wicked annoying as well.

Second…..I just got my Lariat hybrid last week. Yesterday we took a 100+mile trip for personal business. Had a deadline to get there, so took the highway. For break-in purposes, in order to vary engine speed, took the back roads home, varying from small town centers to country roads. Temps were in the 20’s.
Had plenty of heat on the way out. But, on the way home, while I could watch the MPG’s climb from mid 30’s to high 30’s, every time the engine shut down, the heat would disappear! With the dual zone heating, I had my side on as low as I could, in order to give the bride all she could get on “high”. Still cold in the cab.
I think that I will try driving in “sport” mode and see if that helps. I know that I had been in “eco” mode, and moving to “normal” helped quite a bit. If I could disable start/stop on cold days, I would.

I installed the AutoStop Eliminator yesterday - works great. No more button pushing or delayed takeoffs!

Start/Stop works flawlessly on Hybrid though. You would never even think about disabling it, lol

I dont think you even CAN disable it on the Hybrid, only the Ecoboost models.

Yeah, with the hybrid your goal is to keep that engine off. I was curious what effect the auto stop has on EB mileage.

I'm definitely buying one of these. I hate the thought of my engine constantly shutting off at stoplights. Mileage, if your doing lots of city driving maybe 1 mpg. I could care less about that 1 mpg. The aggravation that idea will cause me isnt worth saving that 1 mpg.

In my opinion, the $100 for the stop eliminator is the way to go. It might be the second best hundo ever spent; only second to that time in college

That auto start stop eliminator is on my list. The other day we were in drive thru line at Wendy's and I was manually turning my ignition on and off to move in the line. With start stop eliminator it allows me to do this when I want to. Not all the time. Plus it just turning off by itself kinda unnerves me. Back in the day if your engine turned off by itself, it usually meant you pushed the car off to the side, and popped the hood.

Now if there was a hack to leave the engine in eco mode instead of having to select that every time you start the vehicle, well that would be great.

I read (not sure if it's fact) that the auto/stop-start feature doesn't really provide a substantial MPG advantage in the real world, especially for more rural drivers. It was specifically designed to help manufacturers score better on the government's EPA MPG test course. That's important to them, as they have to meet certain MPG standards across all their model offerings.

I'll be purchasing one of the devices to keep it off by default. If my Maverick ever gets built.

You don't disable the start/stop on hybrid. The gas engine has to shut off at a light so the electric motor can take over.
