How may I permanently disable (or at least temporarily disable) the feature that shuts the engine at red lights? I hate having to shut it off manually every time I start my vehicle. Is there a menu setting which allows me to do this without having to press the button below the shifter knob?

Looks like there might be a setting that can be changed via Forscan:

The problem is, is that this is one way to increase gas mileage. At this point manufacturers are running out of ways to cut gas consumption in an ICE. One day the Dinosaur will be put to rest despite the push back from the oil industry and it's paid off followers and supporters.

Thanks for the link. I read the posts. What a hassle! When the new law is passed maybe Ford will have a recall to disable. Thank you!
I doubt Ford would do anything retroactively.

I have the $100 eliminator and do not regret it. Forscan programming is a much cheaper option if you can get comfortable messing with it.

I wish I could get to that point but I won’t do it.

I’d turn off stop/start,
And every beep , bell, ding sound I could find.
Oh yeah I’d get rid of that oh so stupid OK screen for the seatbelts.

Back in the day we’d unhook, cut, rip out all those noise makers.
Can’t have all those clown sounds going off at 5 AM when your sneaking out of your girlfriend’s house.

Daddy might catch you.

I did it using Forscan. Works great. Also got rid of that annoying seatbelt reminder screen. Why in the world does that screen need to stay on for so long?

At times, 60 seconds does seem like a eternity.

It is part of the new requirements that the NHTSA finalized back in 2024. Some manufactures like Ford have already implemented them but the new rules will not go into full effect until September 1 of 2026 for front seat passengers and September 1 of 2027 for rear seat passengers.

You can read more about it here.

I got a FORScan adapter as a Christmas gift. I turned off the warning display but left the chime. It only dings for a few seconds IF and only IF a seatbelt is not fastened.

There are several things that make it annoying, even if it were just 10 seconds.
1. It highjacks the display until you clear it. Very annoying when you want to confirm other things.
2. When I have passengers, I have to wait until everyone is buckled up. Otherwise I have to clear it multiple times, which takes me back to my first point.

It would make more sense to have it automatically clear once the seatbelt is buckled. That's what all my previous vehicles did.

I only turned off the seatbelt warning screen and left the warning chime. I don't mind the chime because I do want everyone belted in.

Especially not good for the turbo engines shutting on, off etc. No brainer for me now after a year, switch off, put in drive, go!
