FWD. Wanted the hybrid and, like a lot of folks wanting specific options, didn't have a choice. I had hoped for AWD like my wife's Escape, but no such luck. It reality, with snow tires, it'll be fine.

Never going to go off-road but went AWD for the independent multi-link rear suspension + better grip for backroad shenanigans (in bad weather too ofc) and resale value down the line.

AWD- In Michigan Snow, UP roads to Crisp Point lighthouse is off roading, Got the off road package. Because of Lumber roads for hunting or site seeing

Back when I use to run snowmobile cross country I used a utility trailer pull the sled with a 93 Toyota Corolla to the UP. Showed during snow storm and left days later during a snow storm. The only problem I had was after my car sat for a day being went snow it froze and I could not get out of it. Unhook the trailer, move back and forth a few time, then hookup, take off.

FWD availability is the reason I ordered a Maverick. I switched to FWD cars in 1985 & can count on 1 hand the times I needed 4WD since then. $3300 is lot for an option I don't need. I keep my vehicles for a long time, AWD adds many more moving parts that could need replacing over time. Other minor things, the FWD version will give maximum vehicle weight capacity, use a little less fuel, is slightly cheaper to insure, & (I believe) it will be slightly quicker on dry road.

FWD Because the hybrid was a big part of the appeal to me. Plus in the 9 years that I owned my Tacoma in MD I only needed 4x4 once or twice. And now that I'n here in FL I don't think I'd ever need it. I love the idea of being off-road adventure ready, but as I get older I get more realistic about what I really need.

I once asked my insurance company if an AWD minivan cost more to insure than the FWD. I was told yes, not because I might be driving offroad, but because there is more to repair after an accident. Some vehicles cost more because they have more glass area.

Going FWD, living in Michigan all my life never really needed more unless heading into the woods or to play in the mud with the jeeps lol. My previous AWD always felt sketchy on winter highways, Audi A4 and Subaru WRX wagon. Looking for high MPG in this truck so hybrid and FWD.

IMO the only reason to opt for FWD is economics.
And that’s a good and valid reason.
However for me the savings of the FWD is a poor value given the loss of capability.
AWD wins in winter conditions, off-road conditions, horse power and towing.
