FWD for the hybrid's mileage and the ability to flat tow.
If not for the flat towing I may have opted for AWD.
It is my belief that it will soon get very expensive to own and operate a vehicle. I want to spend as little of my income as possible paying operating expenses.
AWD. I have front drive Escape and a couple of times I went to work without snow blowing my driveway and it snowed while I was at work. Came home and tried to do a running start into my drive way to get into the garage and got stuck. Had to shovel myself out lol. Also got stuck in the parking lot at work a couple of times in my Escape and my Focus because they hire dinkuses to plow the parking lot at my job and most times they don't show up to plow until 1/2 the employees are already there and goe stuck. Never owned AWD. Figured I may as well get it. My commute is only like 4-1/2 miles to work and 15 minutes driving time so not too concerned with gas mileage of AWD vs. FWD.
Hybrid for the mileage. I am keeping my full size V-8 4x4 for the times that I need a stronger truck. The Mav is for commuting and easier driving on the super narrow back roads of E Tn.I think gas prices are going to climb and anyone that has a Mav hybrid or turbo will apppreciate the savings on fuel.
I'm a bit late to this party, but my answer is both. I ordered a Maverick XLT Hybrid FWD, I wanted the fuel economy while still being able to use it for light truck stuff. I lost my patience with my previous car consistently having issues and decided that it was a ticking time bomb. I wanted to offload it during the hot market before something major broke that Id have to repair and then take the loss on its no longer clean record. I went and test drove a XLT 2.0 Ecoboost FWD model from one dealership but they wanted $2500 over sticker. I then went to another dealer that had an XL AWD and drove that and bought it at sticker.
So I tried twice to get a FWD and ended up with an AWD. In the end, its probably best for me.
