I looked up Rockblockz that look surprisingly like the Mabett flaps I've got.
It's the same pattern, except fot the little logo abbreviation, and black was the only option which is what I wanted anyway.

The flaps I have are subjected to considerable abuse from the dirt and gravel roads travelled on a daily basis, and they are no worse for wear, so I can't see how the Rockblockz could be better.

I got both fender flares and the mud flaps for close to the same price as just RB mudflaps.

If there was some major advantage, I could see spending the money, but I could buy 4 sets of Mabett flaps for less than one set of Rockblockz.
I just don't see the value proposition.

I'll say this. I can completely understand why someone wouldn't want to spend the money on Rockblokz when the price seems ridiculous compared to other options. I struggled with that myself until I installed them. However, they're worth it to me for these reasons :
  • Excellent materials with a great balance between rigidity and flexibility
  • Durable mounting hardware with adjust-ability
  • Excellent coverage
  • Clean, basic looks--not "blocky" like other molded options.
I just cleaned up my Mav yesterday,....
Except for the left rear inside fender gap. I can say about the same for my Mabetts for about 25% of the price.

I think though there's something to be said for American made, but shouldn't the price reflect the product cost? I'm not sure it does in this case.

As someone who spent 50+ years in North American manufacturing, I prefer to spend my money on made in USA products. And while I would prefer the price to be the same, the wages I earned and invested have allowed me to purchase as I choose.

Ordered a set from Mabett to put on the 2024 and was going to remove them when I purchased my 2026, but forgot so ordered them again.
That was no big deal with the Mabetts. With the Rock Blocks, I definitely would not want to be forgetful. In fact, with the price difference, it was most likely cheaper (talking about the value of your time) to just to do what you did.

Production cost, you mean? To some degree yes, but there are many other considerations when pricing a product. I have no idea without guessing what the production cost is for Rokblokz vs. Mabett.

Like I said, I understand why people people can't justify the price of the Rokblokz. I already explained why I can but, specifically, I consider the coverage, mounting hardware and materials of Mabett's product inferior to Rokblokz. YMMV

I'm glad you are happy with your choice.

Comparisons should be based on cost as well as performance, which is the "value proposition".
Solid gold wiring will conduct better than copper but it fails on cost.

Any product that works is not inherently inferior, just because something else may be deemed better, as in the wiring example.

In this case I don't see very similar products that both work work justifies the price differential.
But that's me.
I drive in conditions that most would consider extreme and my lower cost option is no worse for wear.

I installed them very soon after the thing pulled into the driveway for the first time; they were the first thing I did to it. Would I do it again? Absolutely! They're black on a black vehicle and pretty much disappear, not that I care anyway. They look fine, work perfectly, and were a good price from Amazon Warehouse (now Amazon Resale). Mabett product that fits and works.

I'm glad your purchase satisfies your needs and desires as well, and that it meets your value proposition.

Comparisons should be based on cost as well as performance, which is the "value proposition".

We're all free to base our comparisons on whatever variables we deem appropriate.

Actually, gold is an inferior conductor to copper, but copper is inferior to gold at corrosion resistance. That is why gold is typically only used for connections, not only because it's more expensive than copper. But, the point you were trying to make is noted.

Any product that works is not inherently inferior, just because something else may be deemed better, as in the wiring example.
I didn't say that any product was inherently inferior to another. Inferior = lower in rank, status or quality. The term inferior can be applied to a product that works. The term also does not imply that it doesn't work. Aluminum is an inferior conductor to copper, 100% of the time. Gold is inferior to copper in conductance, copper is inferior to gold at corrosion resistance. Do all three work as a conductor? Yes, and relative inferiority of one to another can be dependent on the application.

What I've stated above about Rokblokz vs other brands is my opinion based on my needs, desires, experiences with multiple products and my impression of relative quality after seeing the hardware specs for nearly every brand available and by viewing install videos. My opinion was asked for, and I gave it with what I consider good detail supporting it. It is not something that I need to defend and I'll state again: YMMV

Hello everyone, I'm kinda new here but I've been reading for a long time. I bought my mud flaps from ford using my ford points back in 2023. One of the first thing I did but they looked kinda big and I had already read the problems from earlier posts about scratching. I trimmed that part off and since I don't lime advertising for someone who doesn't pay me for it I covered up the trademark with a little design of my own. I measured the emboss and designed something of my own to cover it. If you know you know about the color. If you don't it's Area 51.

No.
I have read that mud flaps crack.
Some definitely do, but the materials that various brands use in their products differ, with some being much more prone to cracking than others. For instance, less expensive brands that use plastics such as HDPE or ABS are much more prone to cracking than brands such as Rokblokz or RallyArmor that use polyurethane elastomers in their products. Material choice, as always, has an impact on price.
