I’m not sure where to post dealership warnings. So, if this gets moved, I’m OK. I bought my Maverick back in July from a large Ford dealership. I won’t name names, but they are in a well-known city in southern Maryland. They share the name of the city, are located on Crain Highway, and the name starts with a Wa and ends in rf.
- They had an ICE Lariat that was pretty much what I had been looking for and I asked the salesman to test drive it. He agreed and brought around a hybrid and told me there was no difference.
- The finance manager was old-school flim-flam with new tricks. All the paperwork was done on a large, flat-screen monitor laying on his desk. He kept talking and pointing to electronic signature lines. When it was all over, he gave me a thumb drive. I repeatedly told him I wanted no extras, just the truck. When I got home, I plugged in the drive and was surprised to see that he had added 2 service contacts worth $3K. They canceled them, but it took 2.5 months and many, many calls to get them taken off my loan.
- After 3 months, I discovered that my old plates had never been transferred and the Maverick was unregistered. Again – many, many phone calls before they finally submitted the paperwork to MD Motor Vehicles.
