I had a rattle in the dashboard that seemed to be coming from around the driver side vent that is close to the windshield. It was intermittent but it could get pretty bad. Took it to the dealer and they were able to drive and hear it. They told me Ford had issued a bulletin for this and it was called something like Serenity and Pleasure. I am not making that up. They said they would need the truck for a week to do the repair, which consists of removing the entire dashboard and installing a rubber gasket type insulation. I asked how this could take that long but was just told it is a pretty hig job. My dealer’s service department has been very good to work so I accepted their solution. They are giving me a loaner. Has anyone else been told of a week long repair for something like this? I have seen posts where owners try to jam o-rings into the dash crevice and it seems to help with the rattle but who knows for how long. I would rather get it fixed correctly.

Give me a loaner and it's all good.

I think a week is just their over estimate to be safe. Shouldn't take more than a day to rip it apart and a day to reinstall, but humor them if it's bad enough to drive you crazy. I'd check in and see for myself the progress on day 3 personally if it takes that long.

I've got a rattle in the driver side door. Hopefully it won't take a week to fix it.

I think I have the same vibration/rattle. My dealer quoted 4 days. I use my truck for work so I either need a loaner truck or a vacation. Thanks for the "serenity and pleasure" designation. I will tell the dealer to look for that bulletin - or can someone on this forum in the know post that bulletin?

Meanwhile, my guess is the vibrarion/rattle is where the defrost duct meets the vent molded into the top of the dash near the windshield. I also have a vibrarion type of noise coming from the display and if I put my hand on the top of the screen, it stops.
I saw on a thread related to this area that someone wedged "O" rings into the left of the screen. Any other thoughts on this?

My wish: vehicle dashes were manufactured with access in mind where you could easily take off the dash cover to expose wiring, rattles and the like.

hoping this gasket change is rolled into regular production units.

So I talked with the service rep at my dealership. Ford has put out a SSM regarding the dash rattle. I was unable to get a copy as it appears it just goes to dealers. The SSM lets service departments know they can request a kit to install under the dash to stop the rattle. It is not a gasket. Instead it contains small circular buffers that go over each contact point that attaches underneath the dash, which is why the entire dash needs to be removed. The kit is made by Serenity and the reps at my dealership started calling it the Peace and Serenity kit. Apparently the kit doesn’t have a part number. It is just listed in the parts catalogue under “Misc” but this info might help anyone trying to get the dash rattle fixed.

So was the dealer able to correct your dash rattle as you mentioned? Any other details. I have zero complaints with my new Maverick except it sounds like parts are loose in the dash when I hit a pothole, rumble strip or speed brake or rough parking lot. I don't hear it on a good road. Was that your issue or a rattle on a smooth road? Did they resolve it? Was it really just little felt washers were the dash attached to the body? Bigger question, did they scratch and break stuff?

I am still dealing with this but so far the issue is not resolved. I took the truck in a couple of weeks ago and they had it for 4 days but the repair made only a minor difference. It was still noticeable and irritating and not acceptable in a new vehicle. The service department said they will have to redo the repair which will take another 4 days. I have not done that yet because I have needed the truck for out of town trips.

It doesn’t rattle on very smooth roads but it doesn’t take much to make it appear on uneven payment. And it is intermittent. Sometimes it happens a little and sometimes a lot. The good thing is there was no issue of the repair on the interior. No scratches or scuff marks. No fingerprints or dirt anywhere. No new rattles or sounds. The dash fit back in place with no gaps and everything worked as before, including the rattle.

Thanks. It sounds like our issues are similar. What I really want to know is was it a process problem during assembly (under tightened fastener or overtightened or unsnapped part etc) or is it a design problem that requires modification to eliminate the problem. I have felt tape that is made to add to plastic parts to prevent squeaks in my garage. If removed it would be great if the dealer could add similar. I’m glad they haven’t scratched your parts or damaged them. I hope I have a similar caring mechanic. I haven’t contacted the dealer yet. I had hope by May 2023 production that the problem had been corrected on mine. Apparently it wasn’t. My wife’s 2016 Jeep Cherokee has no rattles when hitting uneven terrain so I also think my one month old Maverick should not. I do have a 1989 Corvette convertible with similar squeaks as my Maverick on rough roads or parking lots but it’s 34 years old but also with a lot of interior plastic. I bought the felt tape with plans to use it on my Corvette eventually.

Good question regarding design or process. The problem is common enough that my dealer knew about it and the part that was needed. I have read some other posts where owners say the rattle went away when they had to replace their windshield due to cracks. I tried backing rod, insulation, etc. where the rattle was coming from and nothing made a bit of difference. My truck also had the hood release latch come apart and I’m guessing this is the same type of thing related to quality control. I really like the Maverick in a lot of ways but the things I have experienced with mine bring up real questions about the build quality 5 years down the road. Other than the engine, I don’t expect it to age well.

It’s good to know that the dealer knew about the common problem. I agree on concerns as the vehicle ages. I plan on keeping mine 10 years (as of now anyway).

I will not be keeping mine past warranty. Many of the posts about problems with the truck don’t show up until they have been driven 10K miles or more. I don’t even drive that much anymore and my concern is how many of these issues will show up after the three year warranty expires because I haven’t put many miles on the truck. The metal is also extremely weak. I opened my driver door and barely touched the rear view mirror of my wife’s car with my door panel and it actually caused an indentation. You have to look at it closely but the dealer noticed it the last I time I brought it in. It didn’t damage the paint but it’s like the metal is made of butter. There is also the poor paint quality, the amount of interior plastic and how that causes rattles and scuffs, etc. as well as the hood fire recall that won’t be taken care of for another 5 months and It makes me think this may be the ugly duckling in reverse down the road. At least mine.

Yes, did they scratch, scuff, or break stuff in the interior? Every time I leave a car at the dealership, I know that there will be something done that will upset me. The Maverick needs to be handled with extreme care, LOL!

May I ask what year Maverick? 2022 or 2023?
