I had the recalled airbags replaced on my 2022 Lariat Hybrid this week. While waiting at the dealer, I saw they had a new Maverick on the lot. Next to the Window Sticker they added an additional one (see below). When I took delivery of mine last August after an 11 month wait. They only charged me MSRP plus the usual add ons (maybe a bit too high on the dealer prep - $599), but in the realm of reasonable. But this $10k mark up is outrageous.

Ford doesn't have the ability to do a lot to stop dealers from doing markups, sadly.

I was happy (!) to get mine for $1,500 ADM that someone passed on. Still don't have a build date on my 9/17/22 XL hybrid order.

Ford nor the other manufacturers can't do much of anything due to state and federal franchise laws that protect dealers (ordering and pricing) and prevent manufacturers from selling direct to consumer. That's why Farley set up a different division for the EV vehicles, i.e. F-150, Mach-E so consumers can order direct, but I thing even then, the dealers are involved to some degree. Could be wrong but think that's pretty close to correct.

Assuming this a truck someone turned down, the dealer is free to charge what they think they can get. This level of ADM leads me to believe this is a Hybrid(?).

When I bought my Mav nearly a year ago, the dealer had a $10K ADM on it. I was able to negotiate it down to a $4K markup. In retrospect I still overpaid, but it was a deal I could live with considering my situation.

For the EV division Ford requires dealers that want to sell them sign up for one of two options. Lower option e Certified the dealer has to install a charger available to the public, be ev trained, transparent non-negotiable pricing online and pay $500,000. They will be limited on how many ev vehicles they are allowed to order.

Option 2 is e Certified Elite requires 2 fast chargers and one level 2 charger with at least one of the fast chargers available to the public. Training and pricing also. Cost to the dealer around $1,000,000. They will get more allocations.

Dealers had until end of October to sign up. About 1,900 of the 2,968 dealers signed up. They are already being sued or complaints filed from some dealers and state car dealer associations.

As stated above franchise laws severally restrict what car dealers can tell the dealers to do for their traditional cars but they are trying this approach to help the customers on the ev side. Tesla got around the franchise laws because they never set up a dealer network.

My Maverick just arrived. Zero dealer prep. Small town dealership. Cazenave Ford Vacherie, LA. It’s a 106 year family owned Ford dealership. They will not screw you over. They honored my X-Plan. Sometimes they beat the C-Plan in pricing. City and large town dealerships mostly suck. I have 4 closer to me but it’s worth the drive. Their labor cost is extremely low compared to my nearest dealers. Again, family owned business. Thanks Cazenave family and your workers.
???Anyone need a 2024 Mustang Dark Horse? Call them.

As long as people are willing to pay the ADM, dealers (independent franchisees) will continue to do so. When everyone refuses to pay it and the vehicle sits on their lot, they will be glad to accept msrp. So in the meantime, they will keep gouging.

Dealer prep is included in the destination charge. Ford gives them part of the $1,595 to clean it up and prepare for delivery.

Vacherie! Right around the corner from my people in Garyville!

Bill Hood in Hammond gave me MSRP plus doc fee, but mine was only the 2nd Maverick they'd ever seen (as of last week).
