About as good a review as you're going to get without any bias.

That is a great review have watched it several times. I'm hoping to hear from members who have used different brands and there thoughts and recommendations. Thanks

Good day

I have and really like my ROVE camera's and I have a single Rove in my camper van and a dual (x2) Rove camera in my Maverick. They came with the proper SD memory card (important to get a fast enough card to work properly) and a plastic trim removal tool...but go buy a set off Amazon, I had a set already).

Lots of good cameras but whichever you pick, I would recommend that you get a dual camera which you are then recording what is going on in front of your truck as well as the 2nd camera mounted in your rear window covers your back.

Most accidents it seems are rear-enders, and having both can help with hit and runs as both ends of your truck are covered.

With the Rove and many other good cameras, they can be plugged in via your OBD2 data port (how I power mine) or you can get the plug system to hard wire it in...this allows your camera to wake up and start recording if it senses your truck has been hit while you are not there.

Watch several installation videos so you can see how to run the wires and so that you do not interfere in all the air bags (in the front pillars for example) ability to properly deploy. If they don't mention to watch out for the air bags, find another install video!

Good luck in your search,

Andy

Good day

I will add this quick post, for those who are not familiar about using the OBD2 port to provide 12 volt power to their camera (or whatever).

This is my spare one, so I still have the info sheet that came with it!

Cheers

Andy

Not sure what the OBD2 supply cost but I now have a Wolfbox G850 on the way. I prefer pulling power from the fuse-box and ordered a power hard-wire kit also. I want the OBD2 open if I go with a tuner/monitor.

I wish someone made a regular-ass mirror with an integrated front facing dash cam.

I value a stealth/oem look.

[This is a copy and paste of a previous comment I made on this subject]

What I will say after having a few dash cams over the past 10 years is get at least a 2 camera setup, yeah itll be more of a pain to run the rear camera, but if someone rear ends you and runs and the front camera doesn't catch it it's kind of hosed -- I had a front camera on my last vehicle and someone hit me pulling out of a busy drive thru line and my dash camera (garmin) didn't catch their plate was kind of annoying.

Don't get some chinesium no name brand $20 aliexpress special unless you absolutely do not plan on using your phone with it. Watch some youtube reviews and see how the app works with the camera if that is a feature that appeals to you. Get something with a good name brand sensor (sony starvis) - if you have the money, spring for something that can do 60fps (better chance of legibly making out the license plates if scrubbing through the footage frame by frame). Get something with 5Ghz wifi if you plan on pulling the footage to your phone, or keep a usb sd card reader that can hook up to your phone so you can do it that way. Keep an extra sd card in your glovebox or wherever just in case -- this might be on the edge of being a little TOO prepared but whatever theyre inexpensive.

I have a Viofo 3 channel system, I like it, if i were to go back I would probably get a 2 channel one since I'm not an uber driver so don't really need an interior view. The app is good, footage downloads quick, and using it doesn't make me want to put my head through the drywall.

It's something you want to install, and really not have to think about which is a good thing.

If I were buying now I would get this -- the new hotness.

A Rexing M3 three camera mirror cam. The display can be seen on the mirror or a computer latter.

I have two main requirements when it comes to dashcams. One that it be able to center the view looking out the windshield and second that is does not interfere too much looking through the front windshield or checking the rear view mirror.

Thing that pisses me off about the Maverick and the same with my wife's Bronco Sport is that center windshield sensor array and cover. It just flat out messes up getting many dashcams up and centered without sticking way down below the rear view mirror and looking like a scabbed on afterthought.

I originally had a VANTRUE S1 Pro I brought over from my trade in but there was not good place to put it but to the right of the windshield sensor cover and looked like crap and obscured the passengers view looking out.

Eventually settled on the 70mai M310 4K that allowed me to install it behind the mirror and center the camera view and is pretty much unnoticeable sitting from the driver seat. Gave up GPS for it but am happy with it so far. Actually bought two to run one forward and rear. I have yet to setup the rear one yet.

I have a BlackVue DR750x-2CH Plus in my RAM and a VIOFO 4K A229 Pro 2CH in my Maverick. The VIOFO is newer so it has the STARVIS techonology which provides a better picture.
I have them both hard wired into the trucks. I have not enabled the parking feature.
Picture quality is very good on both camera. Each App has it own ups and downs but both cameras do sync the front and rear facing images which is a must have.
Functionally they seem to follow the industry with regards to mounting location, warranty and available options (lense covers and such).

It really comes down to what your are willing to pay for what you want to use it for. I live in an area where a lot of drivers don't have a valid license or insurance, expired registration and drive well over the speed limit (ya sometimes that's me too) so I wanted to cover both ends of the truck.

Good luck deciding.
