Exactly. All those Mavericks that are priced too high were sold or traded by someone who got paid too much.

And keep in mind what you're not seeing is the price someone sold them to CarMax for...

As has been discussed on this forum, while none of us condone the ridiculous ADM's we're hearing about, all is fair in love and price-gouging of the Maverick. Happy I got mine at the agreed-upon order pricing, which actually turned out to be a few hundred less when I made the final purchasing arrangements.
Condone? Who are you to tell people whether they can sell their car at the price they want?

Take it down a notch, Kip. People can sell their Mavericks at whatever price they want, but dealers are taking advantage of people who are put in the position of not wanting to wait. I'm sure plenty of folks sold to Carmax (and other similar dealerships) and made a tidy profit - good for them.

Totally understand, but after going through the order process, etc. and paying the promised price (slightly lower, actually) without dealer markups, looking at Carmax pricing made me cringe. I feel bad for anyone who feels that pressured to get a Maverick to overspend for the sake of getting one, and it's not even my money. LOL!
I understand what you're saying and feeling. I leave it up to the individual to decide if the price is too high for their situation. Carvana or any other seller can put whatever price they want on a Maverick; if too high, it probably won't sell. They'll have to make adjustments to stay in business.

I just picked up my 23 Larate Lux Tremor Tuesday.. paid MSRP.. actually less after dealership discounts.. I've seen the way over priced Mavericks on line.. those are asking prices.. don't know if they actually sold for that.. supply and demand.. and how badly someone wants a Maverick and gets bragging rights about paying $40K for an LX.. but some people have more money than brains.. not just the Maverick world but people in general..

i actually test drove one at the carmax here in Orlando....that's when i fell in love :)
Not gonna lie, if I couldn't find a Maverick at more local Ford dealer and wanted to test drive it, I'd rent one from U-Haul. For twenty bucks or so, you can spend an entire day with it. Not just testing out things like the driving dynamics, but also hauling or towing with it to see if it met your needs.

Agreed, the maverick's sweet spot is around 25-30k for an xlt hybrid with options. Anything more than that and it really undermines the entire purpose of the maverick. To think there are people who dropped 40-50k on a Maverick makes my brain hurt. Same with Sante Cruz owners spending that much.

U-Haul has Mavericks for rent? Haven't seen that around here, but...I saw a Maverick at the 7-11 today being used as a company vehicle for our local beer distributor!

It’s all about supply and demand, I sold my 2018 F150 in 2020 when the car market went crazy and I paid 43k , 2 years later I got 40k for it , that never happens ever. That’s why dealers are marking new cars up 5-10 grand.

I got a recent buy estimate from Carnax for my one year old xlt eb 4k and close to what I paid for it originally before taxes. Getting ready to potentially trade in and looking for liquid value. I assumed carmax was one of the internet dealers likely to survive in a used car pricing apocalypse. Agree value advertised there does seem excessive and may not represent what is negotiated in sale. Would be good for us owners buying new for our mavericks to be worth more than what we paid at delivery. Sucks for
People waiting but private party sales prices seem to be coming down

That's awesome you got that much for your truck. I had a similar experience when I sold my 2014 Honda Accord. Might as well have driven it for free for the last 7 years.

While I'm sure dealers are doing a considerable markup, seeing the Carmax and other dealers prices (checked out Carvana, too...they had 40 - I think? - Mavericks for sale with 7 pending sales already. They were a few thousand cheaper than Carmax) made me realize how much I appreciate what I paid for my Maverick.
