My order showed up today at the dealership and of course they low balled my current Mav. Said it would be hard, almost impossible to get me even at MSRP which is what they promised when I bought it back in November. So, took a trip to Carmax, 20 mins later they offered me $34,000 for my 6400 mile 2022 Eco AWD FX4 HPR so I will be selling it to them either tomorrow evening or Saturday morning and pocketing some cash. At least I am getting my '23 at sticker with no ADM.

This is just wrong! That is criminal for you to sell for more than msrp! You are a stealerperson!

Of all the vehicles over years I have had, and it is a bunch, this is the ONLY one I have ever made money on. I usually end up losing money.

Definitely depends on the area. I checked Carmax just for the hell of it for my truck I am picking up soon. It's a Lariat Lux hybrid loaded and they only offered me $32k.

Of all the vehicles over years I have had, and it is a bunch, this is the ONLY one I have ever made money on. I usually end up losing money.
My 1989 Volvo 780 Bertone got totaled 4 different times, each time it got a little tougher looking and each time I got a check for more than I paid for it.

My 95 FZJ80 was bought by some old rich guy who offered me cash on the spot (was not for sale or anything). His offer was 3 times what I paid for it 8 years prior.

I bought a new 2020 Bolt in 2020 for $25k. Drove it 70k miles then Chev recalled the battery and gave me 3 options: 1. wait for new battery, 2. buy it back from me for what I paid for it, or 3. trade it in for any GM vehicle with same msrp ($40K). I traded it in for Chev Colorado, drove the Colorado from the dealer to a different dealer and traded it for a Bolt (with 20k miles) + $15k ($40k trade in on $25k car), and then GM put a new battery in it for me. Effectively I got to drive 70k miles on a Bolt for free, and then paid $10k for a Bolt with 20k miles on it.

I do not share these stories to boast, but because they might be entertaining. Also, I had luck go the other way too plenty of times. I had an 89 BMW 750iL that tried to kill me a few times. The last time was an interesting one.

I put the key in, turned it to acc for a second while I fixed my hair in the mirror, then when I turned the key further to start it BLOOOOSHHH the entire cabin filled with fire instantly. I rolled out onto the ground, scooted back, and the fire was gone rather quickly, which was odd. But I could still see fire under the hood. I pulled the hood lever, but because this model hood hinged up front and opened up by the windshield it was a little tricky opening it. Anyways, small fire in the engine bay, I put it out with a bucket and pond water from the parking lot rain garden.

After it was out, it took me a few minutes, but I figured out what happened, and it was quite remarkable. The car had 95% metal fuel lines, but the one small 4 inch section of rubber line along the firewall had sprung a leak. The hole was pointed right into the AC cabin air intake vent. The rearmost drivers side sparkplug wire had come off and was dangling next to the engine. Since it was a V12, losing a cyl was not that noticeable.

So when I turned the key to acc, the fuel pump pressurized the system, and the vent fan started blowing. This caused the fuel to spray out of the hole of the fuel line, directly into the cabin air intake, and being blown through the AC dash and foot vents. Then when I clicked the starter, the plug wire arced off the block and the spark lit the fuel, which exploded through the air vents and in the cabin.

What a trip. I found some fuel line in the dumpster of a closed nearby service station, and pushed the plug wire back on the plug, and that was that. Drove home, explained to wife why I stunk and had fucked up eyebrows, and listed the car for sale.

Anyways, congrats on the sale. :)

Just sold my 22 XLT EB with 4,400 mi on it for $3K over MSRP to a dealer. My dealer wanted to give $2K UNDER MSRP - $5K turn around. Put some effort in and come out better.

It could be your area. In Florida where the salt air corrodes everything year round. It's worse than up north where the only time your hit with salt is during the winter.

Actually cars tend to corrode less here in Florida. Only if you live on the coast you might get hit. I think the problem is there are a lot of Mavericks in Florida so there might be too much supply here.
