For those who are interested, check out the Mavericks for sale on Carmax. Most start with 1000 miles; found an XLT with 18K miles that they wanted $37,998 for. There were several Lariat models selling into the $42K range.

I may have to check CarMax out if/when my lariat tremor gets delivered ( I have a hybrid XLT lux now).

i actually test drove one at the carmax here in Orlando....that's when i fell in love :)
At least you got to test drive a Maverick. I had to go on blind faith and break my own rule of "never buy a first year model." Have had ZERO regrets buying my Maverick XL EB. We'll see where things stand five years from now.

Yeah they've been ridiculous since day one. I'm hoping if/when they go bankrupt they'll drop the prices to sanity
As has been discussed on this forum, while none of us condone the ridiculous ADM's we're hearing about, all is fair in love and price-gouging of the Maverick. Happy I got mine at the agreed-upon order pricing, which actually turned out to be a few hundred less when I made the final purchasing arrangements.

For those who didn't get a chance to order, this is another option for them to get a Maverick. Thanks for the post.

Unfortunately, I think Carmax is raking people over the coals. Their pricing just seems a bit...excessive.

Not hardly a Maverick-specific problem. Check out other popular vehicles such as the RAV4 Prime (plug in hybrid): https://www.carmax.com/cars/toyota/rav4-prime-plug-in

MSRP is $42-48K. You will find them on Carmax for $45K with a lot of miles all the way up to 60K.

So... order and wait, or call around a lot and try your luck.

nope. it's the market conditions. no supply of new vehicles, high demand for fuel-efficient models, high prices.

I understand your point, but it's supply and demand, and if enough people decide not to buy at those prices, Carmax will soon realize their inventory is not moving and if they're smart, make price adjustments. I believe in letting the market set the prices (except for the monopolies on utilities)

Any chance you are confusing Carmax with Carvana? We've all heard Carvana is circling the drain, but I've never heard/read anything about Carmax having financial problems.

Totally understand, but after going through the order process, etc. and paying the promised price (slightly lower, actually) without dealer markups, looking at Carmax pricing made me cringe. I feel bad for anyone who feels that pressured to get a Maverick to overspend for the sake of getting one, and it's not even my money. LOL!
